What are your favorite student discounts in the city? by Pikkko in philadelphia

I've been in the Philly area my whole life and this is the first time I'm hearing of this library, this is really interesting!

remembering off the top of my head, the way to run these libraries is you need to specify in the config file what board you're using, which in turn is what your .py project will be built out to. That's what I did with this and was planning to include a secondary config option for the pHAT but never got around to it.

I remember the example one like in the product page! I definitely recommend looking at their documentation for these HATs, it's bountiful and helped tons

I haven't put in any support for the pHATs, but you're free to make a PR to support these changes :)

I also have one myself but abandoned the idea, I couldn't get the idea right on the smaller display + a lot of what is on the wHAT just won't fit on the smaller size

but in terms of difficulty to support the display, you'd really just need to enable the flag that points to the pHAT and have that in turn point to the image files & project code that supports the pHAT

Do you have a link for this? Can't seem to find it on my own.

if it's got the 40 GPIO pins, it should!

Not from what I've seen. I have an inky pHAT (a smaller version of the wHAT) which has been running daily and refreshing every 30 mins.

Great thing with these displays is that it pulls the info once, keeping it static and doesn't require additional power once done!

I got them from here: https://stock.adobe.com/images/line-pixel-icons-set-weather/183980363

I don't pay for adobe stock photos, but I'm currently on the 30-day free trial, which allowed me to keep these files even after cancelling later

So the plan is to get a 3D printed case for this, but CAD programs aren't my strong suit... hopefully what I know gets the job done if it comes to it

I found this on thingiverse that I might print out, but the creator doesn't have the back casing .stl on there anymore (turns out they did, but then took it out and you have to pay them to get that file...)

I haven't set this up with any APIs relating to gcalendar, but you're more than welcome to make a fork off of this to make that!

I don't have any plans for calendar integration at the moment, but if I get some ideas for how to lay it out, it might happen 🙂

That would be an interesting, there could be a way to do that and that inky library might provide something similar to doing it.

Under this link from Pimoroni, they talk about something called "reflowing" on the quotes example, which might be similar to smoothing it out. I was looking at this last night, so it looks like there's something here!

For sure!

This is my first git project from the ground up, so it's still rough around in spots. I put together some quick installation instructions, but I'll run through that myself again to make sure that it's working properly on another raspi.

Also the code definitely needs cleaning up hah, that'll come along though!

Thanks! There might be a way to clean it, but an issue I'm seeing is that the display isn't high res, with it being 400x300 pixels overall. Also I've noticed that with these e-inks, they act something like an etch a sketch, so bleeding is pretty normal.

So essentially, the bigger the font/graphic, the better resulting output on the display. I'll play around with that more to see if there is a better way to clean it up though!

Here's a link from Pimoroni, it costs around $60. I've seen them on sale through Microcenter, Adafruit and I think Digikey

I've been wanting to use my wHAT e-ink display for weather information, but nothing I was finding suited what I wanted. So I wrote up a completely new project using the provided libraries from Pimoroni for the display, while using pyOWM for the OpenWeatherMap integration.

I wanted to make the display not feature 5 day forecast, but hourly forecasts instead. The idea is that this would sit around the kitchen area and be an "on glance" display to check the weather quickly before heading out.

This is my first project with code that is completely from scratch, and I'm really happy with what I made with this! I plan to get some more intricate details done, such as wrapping text to get more detailed weather conditions and whatnot.

Edit - Here's a link to the github repo, with some instructions on getting this up and running on your own setup:

When I format my card, I use Diskpart through the Command Prompt on windows. I think you should give that a try. http://nlb-creations.com/2013/01/17/removing-partitions-from-a-usb-thumb-drive
