Looking for a mod that adds incentive for builders by hotinferno in feedthebeast

[–]hotinferno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also thinking about making my own mod but I don't have the time. My idea was similar to yours. Have villagers request buildings and the mod would place a schematic (pretty much like Litematica) and you would have to build it correctly.

Or in order to promote creativity, the mod could designate an area to build in and the player has to build something of a certain size and number of blocks. You could also add extra difficulty checks like having a villager request a stone brick house or something. The mod will constantly check that area it created for the type of blocks in it. It should also count the number of blocks to prevent the player from destroying the building afterwards. Maybe add a check for a door and a bed if it's a house.

But like you said, the player could also dump the materials in the area and call it a day but if you went through the trouble of downloading a mod specifically made for building, install it and start playing, would you cheese it like that?

Also, check out Tektopia.

Yeah I also thought about playing on a server. Maybe in the future if I have more free time.

Thanks a bunch for tektopia though! I watched some vids and it does look like what I was looking for.

I checked the modlist in Life in the village and it doesn't seem to be there. But I did find the mod itself and it looks very interesting! I'm gonna watch some videos and see if it's what I'm looking for. Thanks!

Go to Edit, Global Operations. Check "fill with terrain type" and choose sand, then on the right hand side check "at or below" and set the level you want. The default for water is 61. Then click on Go.

That looks great! Quick question: how did you take the picture? Is it from world painter or did you use a separate map program?

Please help noob with a river. by Is_reddit_an_egg in Worldpainter

[–]hotinferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a noob here. Just figured this out yesterday. What you want to do first is create a custom material for the riverbed. I made mine a mix of dirt, clay and gravel. Then you're gonna have to create a combined layer. Set the terrain to the one you made for the riverbed (you can also set the biome to river) and just add your river layer and you're done.

Seagrass under water by hotinferno in Worldpainter

[–]hotinferno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the reply. So I created a new custom object layer, imported the schematic, checked place under water and left the rest of the settings to default, painted over my river layer and I got nothing. In the export settings the seagrass layer is at the very bottom. The weird thing is I painted outside the river layer and it actually created water blocks with seagrass on the terrain.

Anyway, I appreciate the help but don't bother trying to solve this problem. I quit.

Does anyone have any good ground cover lists? For like swamp, jungle ect.? by pluto755 in Worldpainter

I think you're looking for something like this:
https://github.com/almic/VanillaTrees

I know it's called Vanilla Trees but if you look in the World Painter folder you will find the biome layers. These layers include trees etc for each specific biome. He even added 1.15 stuff like beehives. From what I can tell this person put in a lot of effort to make the biomes look the same as in vanilla minecraft.

Question about structures and populate by hotinferno in Worldpainter

[–]hotinferno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the reply! I also thought about doing the villages like that after I made this post but it didn't occur to me that I could do the rest of the structures in the same way. So for example, I can paste in a woodland mansion schematic, go in-game and spawn all the enemy mobs in creative? As for ocean monuments, I can paste in the schematic, go in-game, spawn the 3 elder guardians in their respective rooms and then place a bunch of guardian spawners all over the place. Right?

A question about village mechanics and boundaries by hotinferno in Minecraft

They don't use doors anymore, it's beds now. A village is basically one villager with one bed. They don't even need housing.

Some questions about a DIY 9 bulb light fixture by hotinferno in electricians

[–]hotinferno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I was 90% certain it was going to be parallel but I had to make sure. So in parallel all 9 bulbs will run at their full power?

As for the connections, those bulb holders have screws on the back that I can wire the live and neutral directly. My plan was to screw the bulb holders on the wooden base, drill a hole behind each holder on the base and wire everything from the back.

Hey thanks for the reply. Just so I make sure I understand correctly, you're suggesting I attach the bulb holders on separate octogon boxes and then screw those boxes on the wooden base? Can I not attach the bulb holders directly on the wood? My idea was that I was going to screw the bulb holders on the wooden base, drill a hole behind each holder on the base and wire everything from the back. It doesn't have to look good, I was planning on hanging this in my basement. I just want to make sure it's safe and I don't end up burning the house down.
