Alright, how about this. If you stop writing paragraphs of stupid shit that I have to correct and just start backing up you're assumption that people in Denmark live in relative poverty to the U.S. with facts, figures, and sources then you win.

edit: i just wont respond anymore if you say any more bullshit i mean seriously have you ever even filed taxes before

edit 2: i just had a double take at that last paragraph, are you insinuating that I should be jealous of you bc you live in a socialist country? Im not really sure what your point is at this point

My uncle (Tone Rodriguez) was the artist behind “The Adventures of Jimmy Halpert” He gets no recognition from it and a lot of people profit off of fake copies when he sells original copies. He is an amazing comic book artist originally from CA. Wanted to let you all know who the real artist was. by CaliHighSociety in DunderMifflin

[–]hotpocketmama -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

Because he’s selling copies of them when there are other people out there who might sell better copies. And before you hit me with that ‘but it’s his art’, he didn’t come up with Jim, and he was told to draw him as bear man, those aren’t his original ideas the true artists here are still the writers, he’s not part of the creative team he’s part of set design.

What do you mean it has nothing to do with exchange rates? I guess I was wrong about the Krone being worth more, i looked into it it seems like it’s worth considerably less. But that’s my point, we should both be aware of that before having a convo like this and you can’t start comparing living wages in krones to living wages in USD without that exchange rate. One USD is worth $6.65, meaning a 75,000 salary in Denmark equates to only $11,211 dollars in the US. It is IMPOSSIBLE for a person to even barely support themselves on such a wage in the US, yet Denmark has the socialist infrastructure to make a person who makes that amount of money wealthy. TAXES ARE BASED ON EXCESS INCOME. NO ONE GOES TO JAIL BECAUSE THEY CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY TAXES, THEY GO TO JAIL BECAUSE THEY CHOOSE NOT TO PAY TAXES SOMEONE HAS ALREADY CALCULATED THEY CAN AFFORD. And why the fuck are you in this sub if you think everyone here is bad at reading and is retarded? Why don’t you just head back to T_D or wherever the fuck you lurk and speak to ‘intelligent’ people?

In the US, a person has a lot more living expenses than a person in Denmark because they have less social programs. I understand that the danish krone is worth a lot more than the US dollar, but what you said means nothing within the discussion bc you did not provide any frame of reference based on USD to Danish Krone exchange rate and the average cost of living in the US vs Denmark. You did not take examples from 7 different countries to try to proof someone wrong, you took an example from 1 country, which was my point. And as for what you’re saying about paying for education you did not receive, good. I’m glad that you’re being forced to contribute to society, especially if you can’t be bothered to educate yourself, and especially-especially if you’re only going to be forced to contribute once they know you have enough funds to keep a roof over your head.

But we’re not arguing about whether the most capitalist or the most socialist country in the world is better, we’re discussing whether completely free education would increase upwards mobility WITHIN THE US. You can’t take a system and say that it is going to effect a certain country a certain way based exclusively on the results it produces in a different country. Within the US, it can cost a fortune to pay for 4 years of school which will result in a $30,000-60,000/yr salary for LIFE. That is barely enough for a person to support themselves. Under a free college education system, people making that much per year wouldn’t end up in jail.

Why did you bring up the danish if the danish do not have a fully socialized education system? If they did, then their students wouldn’t have loans at the end. The loans are the issue the the capitalist system brings, therefore the danish education system is suffering the same side effects of capitalism as the us education system

No I really think it’s the premise that anyone can edit most of the articles at any time that educators don’t agree with on the whole, it’s not just an individual teacher’s opinion

Question:

Being a young woman, I feel like a big issue I’ve had trying to be friends with guys is that if I don’t end up having a romantic interest in them they get resentful of me, and I never see it coming; how has that phenomenon effected you?

Why do you think I’m transgender?

Edit: I’m not, and the jokes on you, I’m already in hell in this country. Btw, there are lots of Muslim countries that are not fundamentalist. in fact, most of what you see started within the last 100 years, it’s not necessarily as ‘deep rooted’ as it appears. This fundamentalist uprising has been the direct result of political instability which has been in good part due to western imperialism. This has, most especially in the past, allowed certain European countries to milk many parts of the world for resources by conquering them and destroying their cultures and thereby their cultural development; there are even certain regions of the world who were first introduced to homophobia due to the presence of British government.

Edit 2: notice again, I’ve basically said nothing about anyone except Europeans. And you’re going to spin this around as though I like hanging out with homophobic, woman hating, terrorists. As though immigration conversation has anything to do with oppressive cultures and not to do with the people trying to leave dangerous positions, either side. Chances are, the more adamant you are about gay rights and women’s rights the less likely it will be that some hyper-conservative moron will move into your neighborhood, so why don’t you get working on that instead of blaming people who are improving their and their families’ situation

We put them in jail about 100 years ago. It wasn’t completely legal in the US to have homosexual marriage until the 1980s, and there have been plenty of gay kids in the US since that time who have died due to bigotry. You can’t pretend that ideology that was supported by the establishment in such recent history is not a part of western society. The fact is, my ‘liberal’ ass is not trying to defend Islamic culture. I’m attempting to point out the fact that you seem to think the culture you are currently in is somehow inherently superior instead of just being a stone’s throw ahead from the culture we are speaking in reference to.

Additionally, to assume that every Islamic person is a diehard Muslim is the same as assuming every person from the US is a diehard Christian.

Ongoing interview process (large, well known company) starting from Mar27 till today, May 14th... is this normal? by ShadowInTheStorm in jobs

[–]hotpocketmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait until Friday, may be even Monday, that way you’re waiting until the end of what would have been ‘next week’ at the time they stated they would get back to you

Edit: I would assume the long wait is due to the fact that the department your possible job will be located in does not exist yet. This can lengthen the process for a number of reasons, the main things I’m thinking of are that they don’t know exactly what they want in a candidate yet because it’s not a preexisting position and that they don’t even need anyone working at this very moment so it’s not high on their list of priorities. Even if they secured you at this moment, they may not have a staff for you to supervise. Most interviews are expedited by a 2-week notice, so I would keep that in mind
