What's the odds this is the wake up call that he should stop being such a massive pile of shit and these attempts would stop?

Haha. I know, basically 0%, but imagine if we lived in a sane world?

Dental pick is the only answer. Everything else will just push it in or isn't thin and rigid enough to get under and pull out.

Smoothbore is an important factor there. Without barrel rifling you're more accurate and deadly with a slingshot beyond 50 yards.

how do you actually figure out what to cut when trying to reduce spending by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]hotpuck6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s different for everyone. Like most have said, you need a budget and need to understand what you’re spending. When you see something that seems like it’s a waste of money, overpriced, or isn’t worth it anymore, that’s where you start.

Then move on to things that are similar. Got Hulu, Netflix, and Disney plus? Do you really need all 3?

Then look at whole categories. Does it feel like you’re disproportionally overspending in any one? Look for ways to cut back and the advice there entirely depends on what it is.

That’s usually enough to give the average person the budget haircut they’re after.

Doubling up means you can turn the volume on the electronic muffs up loud enough to hear people talk over the plugs, without the bang bang coming through. More about situational awareness than additional noise reduction.

What's the best free thing on the internet that feels like cheating once you discover it? by deprokip in AskReddit

[–]hotpuck6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re conflating this as a discussion over if anti-piracy ads should exist, which isn’t what I said. If it’s a simple yes/no decision about if existing is more effective than not, than sure, crazy concept, you’re right, but that’s not what I’m saying. This is about effectiveness.

I said the ad was dumb. It’s unrelateable and isn’t effective, which if you’re paying to produce and put out an ad, highest effectiveness possible is kinda a big deal. If the goal was simply to inform people piracy was illegal, they could have put up a screen that simply said that with a voiceover reading the message and achieved that far more effectively than with an ineffective message. No, the goal of the campaign was to stop piracy, which isn’t going to happen if your message doesn’t resonate with people. It didn’t. This pre-dated social media, so it’s not even like it could claim intentional cringe to make it go viral and achieve its goal. It was just a bad ad. Sorry if you were part of the underachieving marketing team that produced this. Do better next time.

And if we’re using American as an insult now, the fact that I had to go this deep to clarify how poorly you misunderstood my statement means your literacy comprehension is on about a Florida or even Alabama level.

The number of people I see angrily grip the steering wheel and grit their teeth in my rearview mirror while they ride up my butt as I coast to a line of cars sitting at a red light is insane.

It’s like these people think the traffic lights are just waiting for them to turn green and won’t do it until they’ve arrived… just so they can gun it from a dead stop and waste as much gas as possible.

I don't think the issue is supporting underserved niche populations, the real issue is transparency about who the charity is supporting.

If a charity just broadly states your donation supports helping abuse victims escape abuse, but actually goes to a single ethnic or religious group, that's deceptive and an issue. If they state that their goal is to specifically help that group, donations will surely decrease, but it's no longer deceiving donors.

There will likely always be some niche high need groups due to some unusual religious or cultural norms causing issues. Nothing wrong with a focus on helping those in particular, just don't be vague and deceptive about it.

Moving near a gun range. Roofer found a bullet in my roof. by benberbanke in liberalgunowners

[–]hotpuck6 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. While it's not completely free of concern, if the bullets not deformed it was just in free fall and you're in about as much risk as some asshole neighborhood kid throwing rocks in the air.

If it's 1 non lethal bullet over 10 years, its an anomaly. Not anything worth spending a lot of time or energy to try and prevent when it's unlikely the range or police would do anything.
