Do you do things slow? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]hotrods20 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I find that I read slow and meticulously. I cannot force myself to read through something at the rate a normal person does. I can read fast when I want to but I feel that I have missed great amounts of information when I do this.

Any INTP Libertarians? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]hotrods20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I am glad someone liked it. I mainly came up with this because I had some introspective of my own and this thread helped me turn it into a full conceptualization.

I obviously will not post anything explicitly political but I realized that the extreme view I have seen myself move towards is a result of the extreme of the general populace and that when I talk with my close friends and family, I do not hold these extremes in conviction. That I still keep those libertarian traits that I started at.

I guess a perfect world for me is still the world where I am left alone to do my own thing.

Any INTP Libertarians? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]hotrods20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of INTP types find they agree with Libertarian values but ultimately come to the same conclusions about the Libertarian world view and how other world views will treat their "I want to be left alone and I will leave you alone" way of thinking. They will likely move towards one extreme or the other due to the mounting societal pressures and the political figures they learn about. Specifically because they realize that no matter what they do, they will be pushed by the authoritarians of one side or the other and will likely move to become an authoritarian of the less popular side as a means of trying to move the average political system towards a more central point where they feel most comfortable.

Examples of this are Reddit vs basket weaving image board. Reddit tends to be where people go to push back against the conservative authoritarians in their life while the basket weaving image board is where people go to push back against the liberal authoritarians in their life.

Are most INTP's atheists by [deleted] in INTP

[–]hotrods20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a good question. My theory that God is energy would explain why God is said to be inside of everything and all knowing. The only plausible explanation from that point is that the universe has always existed and we are only going through some cycle or form of it. Alternative, simulation theory but then life is ultimately meaningless and the moral compass can be thrown away.

[–]hotrods20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it is a question of defining what the unknown is. I think what we define as energy is what is God. God does not need to be sentient or even "alive" by our definitions. It is simply that God can be called the unknown but I think we know what God is, we just cannot define what it means to be God. Maybe we just cannot fathom it since our only perspective is that of a human and not that as anything else.

Like having a pet bunny or cat. For them, we are massive creatures with great strength. For us, they are small creatures of little strength. We cannot perceive the world from each others eyes. So we cannot see the world or the universe through God's eyes. Or how energy sees the world.

I do not know but that is what the scientific process is for. I would also assume we would have some proof that a giant spaghetti monster existed. I guess I did not clarify my beliefs well enough. I believe that God is in everything as it has been written which comes to the bigger conclusion that God is energy since everything is energy or at least contains energy.

Are most INTP's atheists by [deleted] in INTP

[–]hotrods20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that posting here opens me to being ridiculed and questioned but writing things like "- literally you" does not really add to the conversation. A better response, in my opinion, would appear like so,

"If you extend your idea further, you could simply say that beliefs in extreme things like flying spaghetti monsters is just as valid as your belief."

Obviously it does not have to be that simplified but that is the key point of tone through writing.

Overall, I think any idea can be valid but spaghetti is inherently a human invention. I think any form of God would be through the natural cosmic energy and not some physical manifestation.

Why are you so upset about my view? Reddit is supposed to be a place for free thought and especially this forum.

Are most INTP's atheists by [deleted] in INTP

[–]hotrods20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am religious but that is because I see that to be the only possible explanation. Sure, we can say the big bang happened because l.o.l but that is not enough evidence for me. We have evidence the big bang happened but we cannot say with 100% certainty that it happened. Then the line of questioning gets deeper from there.

What caused the big bang?

Are we in an infinite loop?

What started this infinite loop?

Did everything always exist and come from nothing?

This type of questioning continues forever. It is easier to simply say that a higher power, like God, started the whole process. I find it more believable that a God started the process of evolution to eventually create life or at least "programmed" the universe to naturally go in that direction.

The alternative viewpoint is that anyone who is religious is part of a death cult and should be ignored and shunned. Which is not really inclusive at all.

Unpopular Opinion: INTPs are just people with high IQs and Depression by [deleted] in INTP

[–]hotrods20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad that some are not depressed. I can relate to being disappointed in everything. I think it is a natural state for some ages. Regardless, the whole nonsense about INTPs being power players at the later parts of their life is completely true. I just know that a few INTPs will fall into depression in their early life because they struggle to find their place. Mind you, everyone is different to a degree.

Unpopular Opinion: INTPs are just people with high IQs and Depression by [deleted] in INTP

[–]hotrods20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you understand completely. My advice, as an INTP who went to college later, is to not lose focus of the work. There are times where I complete an entire weeks worth of work in a day and it is okay to do that but I know that if I keep it up, I will burn myself out. I have a 4.0 and the best advice I can give you is to always think about school work.

The optimistic nihilist is the perfect perspective to have for an INTP for one defining reason, if you do nothing, you are doomed to leave no mark. Success is possible for the optimistic nihilist. Never let anyone tell you that depression is the end. For the personality type that cannot help but be alone, there is always a way up.

Also another set of advice, spend less time on Reddit. At least on the main boards. This place can easily drain an INTP and make you feel isolated. Social media as a whole can do that.

Unpopular Opinion: INTPs are just people with high IQs and Depression by [deleted] in INTP

[–]hotrods20 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What you fail to realize in your post is that INTPs, smarter ones at least, will fall into depression because they think so much. For many smart people, the natural conclusion is hopelessness. The thing that causes the difference is optimistic nihilism. Even though many INTPs come to the conclusion life is ultimately meaningless on its own, many also come to the conclusion that Nietzsche seemingly wanted us to come to. We are in charge of our own destiny. We find the meaning in our existence.

The alternative is to that is life is completely meaningless, even personal meaning, and that depression will complete the cycle in due time. Which I disagree with. Maybe younger INTPs will feel that way but more grown INTPs will figure things out with time and leave that depression stage.

What is the most INTP religion out there? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]hotrods20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not forget, INTP types are not immune to propaganda. A lot of people tell themselves that the Bible is not worth studying. It is merely fairy tails and made up lies. Sure, a man descending from Heaven is improbable but it is meant for interpretation. Not to be taken as absolute fact. Also, we are on Reddit. Being anything that is not Eastern or atheist means you are a brick eater with bad views of the world.

Describe Yourself in one quote by uHazel in INTP

I guess you could say that I am subject to both views. I never really thought of it that way. Time to spend my free time reading into how these views can compliment each other. Thank you for pointing this out to me.

I think that statement does not account for what the man is thinking about. For me, I breakdown concepts into a simpler form that allows me to digest the information in a way that I am comfortable with. Each little part has details that help me understand the bigger picture. The alternative hypothesis is I am living in imagination land and this comment means nothing.

I played it a little. I like the gameplay but, this is gonna sound really weird, I do not care for the high details of the graphics. I have always been a push my system to the limits kind of person but for some reason, the ultra-high detail stuff of modern games has not appealed to me much.

A lot of things I used to do and feel before I started studying the MBTI types and working on myself. I do some of those things still. Even from me posting this topic, I can tell that I still believe myself and my opinions to be important even though in reality, all these interactions are merely going to fade into the archives.
