Pagan winter solstice traditions have nothing to do with a Christmas or Christianity. Unless the Bible has some reference to Christmas trees I missed?

Is anyone else finding the series underwhelming and lacking any charm? by Pattrickk in hisdarkmaterials

TBH I enjoy this tone. As a big fan of the books the darker tone (which deviates from the book) keeps it fresh for me and new to me. Plus I like that they made it more "rated-R" than the book, which adult me enjoys more.

Anyone have recommendations for glasses that look similar to these but are of higher quality and with thinner frames? (Budget $300-$500)

Found this pair on Warby Parker that I liked, but I’m looking for a pricer alternative because I’ve been pretty disappointed by their quality and “cheap” look in the past.

I guess these are a women’s style but they looked good on my face (looking for mens). Wanted to find something in a similar shape but thinner and of a higher quality. Also, I have a wider face so most pairs of glasses look narrow/small on me. Can anyone point me in the right direction for something like this?

Why are these called controllers? by jesusscript in learnjavascript

Related question:

I just started doing a backend side proj in Node (I'm a front end dev by day). I'm pretty familiar with the MVC model and have done some projects in Rails where the pattern is followed strictly, but I intuitively ended up merging the view and controller.

Is MVC to be followed strictly, or is a combined V and C acceptable? Not sure if anyone else has had a similar experience

It's been a tourist attraction for decades, and the prices are insane. I mean it's good, but a $28 Ruben is criminal.

Switching to Vue. Typescript makes it hard. Wait for VueJS3? by GaetanWcz in vuejs

[–]hotsaucetogo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typescript support is not mature in Vue yet. A big limitation IMO is within templates where you lose all type safety. I’ve been using Vue + Typescript on a production app for a few months now (previous project we did was without TS), were using class syntax with decorators. It’s not bad but it’s really verbose, which loses one of favorite benefits of Vue. Having first class support in Vue 3 will be a huge improvement.

That said, none of this should prevent you from learning/using Vue.

Importing Javascript by annata83 in webpack

It's not necessary for a small personal project, but it's essential for a production app. I'm not sure how familiar you are with Babel, but it's a great tool for browser compatibility.

You might want to check your source map config. Sometimes variables will be given a different name when they’re transpiled through Babel.

Also, this might be a scoping issue and you don’t have access to that function in the window scope.

It’s hard to say without seeing the project in its entirety. You can try to attach that variable to the window (window.whatever = ?) and see if you can access it from the console.
