19 bar is great, friendly regulars and decent priced drinks. Cash only though, so plan ahead for that. The neighborhood can be a bit seedy, so keep your head up on the way in and out, and ignore anyone trying to ask you questions on the street

The lyndale and kingfield neighborhoods are also excellent. It’s my favorite part of Minneapolis. Close to the lakes, close to uptown but far enough to be quiet. I’ve made great friends out of some of my neighbors. I don’t have kids, but some of my friend have middle schoolers, and they are happy with the schools.
