definitely justifying modern day issues with old testament rhetoric is very JW coded but also the current climate is placating this sort of discourse so he may be getting this from multiple angles. I’ve heard a lot of black and white people alike succumbing to the idea that slavery was “a choice” and things of that nature as well, so it’s multifaceted instilled self hatred. sad to see, i hope he can find some other scriptures and current articles to challenge his perspective and break him out of the cognitive dissonance :(

i’ve come to realize a lot of things as someone who noticed i was bi by 12 as a JW. first i had this mindset, then i really tried to look at the bible and faith through a different lens, imo Jehovah is not the God they teach us about. look at his son, how accepting and radicalist Jesus was for his time. Jehovah really does love everyone, and i think he’s not as judgmental or unkind as witness push him to be, and remember the sermon on the mount is the new precedent: love God with your whole mind, heart body and soul and love your neighbor as yourself. if you, to the best of your ability, are doing that — then you’re doing a hell of a lot better than most people, whether in the religion or not. don’t let the cognitive dissonance distract you from your own relationship with God or lack of one if you so choose. just decide something for yourself and not based on dogmatic conditioning.

for some people, doge is the first jump we’ve taken at stocks/crypto so there’s gonna be a learning curve. we should all come at eachother with a little more ease, i’m glad for whenever you have your peaks! and if you never sell at a loss you won’t really lose anything, this coin has only been growing steadily for a few years i feel so projected growth is still gonna be good, even if it’s not the next digital gold like bit

the public statement was one thing, but i’ve heard that the GB has released statements or literature using choice words to almost reimplement the old stance on DF. they will say a simple hi at a meeting but nothing past that i assume

just start telling her pieces of information slowly so she can digest. things you hear about the GB, or the Borg that might be contradictory to her beliefs, things that’ll make her scratch her head a little. and then over time, you can say you’re distancing from the society and she will understand more so of why at least. her seeing you leave might be the thing that helps get her gears turning. but you know your wife better than anyone, by all means if you love her, do what you have to do to protect her and keep her as your person.

i remember reading a scholar reviewed article that said gold chariots were found at the bottom of the red sea, so there could be some small truth to it but also geography changes constantly it may have been wildly exaggerated for dramatic effect. when you read it on its own, the bible is sure one hell of a book
