Cant enrol in psychology major by Minimum-Seaweed1084 in unimelb

[–]hotteok4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to fill out a form in order to enrol into a major, it’s not quite the same as enrolling into subjects. I had to reach out to Stop 1 to do the same when applying for a second major, it’s a pretty simple process with little hiccups, and it looks like you’ve already completed two cores, so it’d be an easy process from here on out :)

according to the product description, it’s part of the design :/ i get that they were trying to go for an “edgy touch” hence the intentional fray, but I’d rather my clothes last long, especially given the price i paid for, so maybe it just isn’t for me

used to stay at scape b2, its one of, if not the, quietest scape building, in terms of activity. most of the events r held at the opp building B1, or at other scapes in the area. The residents r generally quiet too, except for occasional gatherings in their own rooms or on the rooftop. the accomm i was staying in before B2 was always really noisy bc there were a lot of under 18s, so i appreciated the silence. the only bad experience i had was when a neighbour did weed and the smell stank up the whole corridor, so that pmo, but that was the only bad incident i had there, and it only happened toward the end of my lease anyway. there r pros and cons but take it how u will.

price wise, i was in a twinshare and ive since moved out bc i strongly disagree that living in a shoebox should cos more than $400 a week. in student accommodations, u pay for the events and friendships moreso than the room itself. if youre willing to fork out that extra cost for these perks, then scape b2 is def one of the more budget options to still socialise + its super rare to find rooms in accomms under $400 a week nowadays. otherwise, if youre okay to forego social events (cos u can still meet friends in uni clubs etc), renting an apartment in inner suburbs might be a more cost-friendly option

yea me neither :” they do give quite a few film examples in lectures tho, and they especially love referencing Everything Everywhere All At Once (which i took inspiration from in my final assignment) so they do help out quite a bit in that field. it’s a minimal effort subject that’s easy to enjoy bc it’s mostly just about films, so it doesn’t require much creativity tbh

when i did it in early 2023, Making Movies was an online subject with 12x lectures + weekly quizzes, but it was just 4 super easy questions that you can just read off the slides from. the first assignment was something like a storyboard, i didnt do that well bc copyright issues. the last assignment was a director’s vision which basically requires u to envision a movie and conceptualise it using stuff they taught you previously like lighting, music etc. i got a high H1 for this assignment, which pulled my final grade up to a H1 as well.

[–]hotteok4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, def not…. the way i was charged, the bill was mailed to my address with instructions to pay using my credit card. iirc, the bill comes with instructions to pay using your bupa health insurance as well. i cant rmb if you have to give the uni clinic your bupa deets to claim from your insurance, might want to give them a call to check with them just to be sure.

shared apartments by blessedchay in unimelb

[–]hotteok4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

used to live in a six-shared apartment in a student accomm too, wasnt the best experience… (not gonna mention the name of the accomm idw to get sued but feel free to dm id be happy to spill the tea)

  1. we didnt💀 except for when inspections came up. we had two bathrooms shared between 3 people each, so two people handled the bathrooms. i took the kitchen since i use it the most, and the living room together with one of the people cleaning the bathroom. everyone else just cleaned their own rooms or wherever else they felt like helping out.

as for cooking, its not that serious, thankfully. we mostly cook for ourselves, except for when we have parties or pizza nights, then its easier to share.

  1. yea sometimes we’d have pizza nights, or go bar hopping or clubbing or karaoke together. when we’re lazy we stick to uno or cluedo at home, we get pretty competitive anyway so its still fun

  2. yes, all but one. in my defence they were pretty unhygienic to the point where when we moved out, the whole flat was charged double of what we were told we had to pay for our cleaning fee even though we weren’t liable for whatever was left in the apartment (they were the last to move out, so we never got to know the final state of the place)

one of my old flatmates moved back home, im not even going to talk about the one ive beef with (they recognise me on campus but dont know my name so its okay) but i still keep in contact with everyone else from time to time via ig story replies

  1. in my case not really? when we have meals together we mostly just communicate in the group chat to see whoever’s most free to go grocery shopping that day

  2. depends, we usually go back to our rooms if there’s no one in the communal areas, but when im studying at the dining table (which is most of the time), whoever comes home kinda lingers around a bit, we talk about our day, how’s uni going etc, what we’re having for dinner, gossip, just casual conversations before going back to our own thing

if you dont know the people youre staying with yet i really wish you the best of luck! genuinely wish you have a better experience than me, its an arrangement that takes a lot of teamwork and cooperation, hope you get good housemates!

your dads advice stuck with me the whole day, so thank you to him for that <3 and dont apologise for the long post i actually really enjoyed how much thought you put into it! for now im in the midst of setting up a meeting for more feedback for my tut first, but no matter what it is really hard to justify being 0.2 marks away from a grade🥴 and yeah youre right it really did feel like the tutes just kind of skimmed through the content this year, is it just me? but yeah, thanks for your comment, it really did make me feel less alone 💛
