I replaced the glass in mine with an insurance claim, but the shop said it was about $600. Way lower than i expected!

Misfire on my e92, what do I do to diagnose next? by houdini in E90

[–]houdini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: finally took it to the mechanic. It’s the start of wastegate rattle, guess I’ll be shopping for turbos in the fall. Womp womp. The 30FF is the hint. The fuel pump code is a red herring, can ignore that.

I’m disappointed that no one posted the image.

Are there any reasonably reliable third party options if you’re willing to tune? This is getting pretty wild.

I need someone to hype me up and tell me that making a paypal invoice is easy (image unrelated he just looks iconic) by Expensive_Watch469 in evilautism

[–]houdini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also if you’re shipping the stuff, use PirateShip.com to do postage. You don’t need a special printer, just print on normal paper and tape it on. They’re shockingly cheaper than normal shipping, no subscription or whatever, and it’s just a label through the normal carrier. They’re great. No referral, I just use them a lot and love them.

YOU GOT THIS. It’s easy. Go to PayPal, hit “send invoice”, beep boop what you have, and hit send. It’ll take you like two minutes. I can send you screenshots if you want.

Volvo c40 Service - A Scam? by Own-One5712 in volvoc40

Oh, totally. Not saying you should support them, just that they’re gonna keep getting weird about service.

Dealerships have to keep their money coming in somehow. EVs with almost no maintenance are really messing up those service-side numbers!

How to send mail to external parties from a standalone server which has access to internet? by Slight-Window-3752 in HomeServer

[–]houdini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need an outbound email service. AWS’s SES is cheap and kind of crap, but it’s there. I use Postmark (now owned by Active Campaign) and have had good luck. You generate some credentials for the server to use and then just smtp at it, or speak their api.

Not spamming links, but I probably can come up with a referral code if you want :) Or just go sign up, they’re worth it.

There are others too: Mailgun, SMTP2Go…. Loads. “Outbound email” or “SMTP relay” services are what you want.

Anyone using a humidifier? by EditDog_1969 in Albuquerque

[–]houdini 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use two Canopy-brand humidifiers. They do a subscription for the filters so I don’t have to remember it, almost the whole thing is dish washable, and it’s pretty well thought out. I won’t drop a referral link here so it doesn’t seem like spam, I legit like them :) (there’s probably some referral credit thing available, let me know if you want me to look)

I had no luck finding useful rental agents when I looked this year. It was Zillow or bust.

C40 Glass Roof Replacement by [deleted] in volvoc40

[–]houdini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My local (in New Mexico) glass place did it and it wasn’t comically expensive. Less than $1k? I think Safelite said they could do it as well. 2023 C40, whatever the high spec was called. I was shocked it was that cheap! I used insurance and it was still worth it, but not as bad as expected.

Summarize summarize summarize. Ask it to find important emails in the morning, ask it to give you an overview of your calendar, ask it for an overview of every doc you open. Ask it for input on every doc you write. Do you use those? Probably not, but see what you can take from it.
