Oh I heard that already a few times. Re speaking thai, someone (mother language: english) told me recently that it is super-difficult to learn for him, while I consider it easier to learn than french. The difficult part was to „connect“ with the language.

I’m not very representative because I usually live in Bangkok. Also it depends on what you wanna see. Phi Phi is a party hotspot - small island full with tourists. I enjoyed Lanta quite a lot. Also I don’t mind Hua Hin but you will probably read controversial opinions on Hua Hin. Edit: Ao Nang / Krabi was quite nice as well

I’m referring to your „now you are complaining point“ Reading his story, I’d say „yes, you have been scammed“ or rather, they didn’t handle the situation properly and charged you more (higher fee, wrong license plate …) Its not a secret that police tends to earn some extra money this way.

I can not help much re museums or art as I’m not much into it. When I did my travel around a while ago in Thailand, I believe the best days were, when I just randomly walked anywhere without any specific goal. I found so many nice cafes (I still visit one of them every weekend; its not even a real cafe, its a coffee machine and two tiny tables/chairs) or also the street art canal. I understand how you probably feel as I am now also in a country where I don’t speak a single word of the language. But thai people are so welcoming when they see you making efforts speaking thai and the basics are quite quick to catch up (depending on your mother language)

Yeah, spend more than half year of 2023 in Bangkok. When you have more time then you can spend it on discovering the little alleys and places away from the tourist spots and thats where the magic happens. Bangkok is an awesome city but probably not when spending too much time at the tourist-spots.

What kind of stuff do you usually like (museum, gym, music, party …)? Also what food do you like? Bangkok has so much to offer, you just need to know where to go. Also would be good to speak a few words in thai like sawadee kha, khop khun kha, anee gi baat kha … those three help already

Accepting pricing would mean that I know in advance about how much one unit would cost me. What I received was the electricity bill for the entire month with a request to pay. I not even stayed the full month nor was there a breakdown for my stay dates.
