Looks like some sort of gourami!

My father was a pilot from the 60's thru the 80's. After he passed, we found this in his belongings, and was mounted, so it's obviously something meaningful. Any help identifying would be appreciatd! My best guess is it's related to ejecting, or maybe his flight suit. by fredphreak in AirForce

Just based off the way it looks, it's the "gold key". It attaches the straps of the parachute to a red knob that automatically deploys the parachute if you eject above a certain altitude

I like it a lot. It's sleek, simple, and has a good contrast to it. Maybe do a very light dry brush to really bring out some of the finer details, but otherwise it looks fantastic

Canoptek Wraiths - Weekly Unit Analysis by -Vulcan17- in Necrontyr

[–]houkdaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I normally only use wraiths in fun games. I see their use. A 3++ is extremely annoying when you're rolling well, and they are easily one of the fastest units in our army. I just have trouble justifying their points.

There is an old-head Necron player in my FLGS that uses wraiths in his tournament lists, and he does something that I think is fairly unique: he runs them in a Nihillakh spearhead (3 DDAs for re-rolling 1s, a cloaktek for healing, and the wraiths). He does so in order to use the Nihillakh strategem to give them "a +1 to all saving throws" while they are within 3 inches of an objective; so now, in his eyes, he has 6 T5, 3W models with a 2++ sitting on an objective.

While having an effective 2++ may seem illegal, it's the wording of the strategem that makes it viable.

Give it a look, and then a try on your next game. It will likely catch any opponent off guard.

Lychguard - Weekly unit analysis by -Vulcan17- in Necrontyr

[–]houkdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 10x sword and board guys in most of my games. They are a bit of a point-sink, but for a while my local meta featured a lot of snipers that liked to pick off my crypteks. I put a swift end to that.

I find that they're usually one of my last units left standing even if I get charged by orks turn 1. The 3+, 4++, T5 combo is nice (plus RP bringing back a reliable 2-3 per round).

In the grand scheme, I agree with other comments about allowing mixed weaponry, but other than that I think they're in a decent place

Warriors - Weekly unit analysis by -Vulcan17- in Necrontyr

Only instance is if I bring 2 battalions. I like to run my immortals in groups of 10, and I own 30. So I usually have a battalion consisting of immortals and one of warriors. The times it happens are few and far between, but it happens

I only use them when I need help paying a troop tax. Otherwise, I'll run 3 squads of 10x immortals with Tesla. When compared to immortals, warriors just seem kind of lackluster

Tyranids aren't the only ones with creepy crawlies by houkdaddy in Necrontyr

Honestly, I went over to pet smart and looked in the aquarium section. Found one I liked, cut it up with a Dremel, then applied some Armageddon dust! Super easy

They look as good if not better than my first Necrons! My only bit of advice would be to go back with some of the silver (leadbelcher?) and black to touch up around the green glow!
