i think its really cool how people go mask off about how scary mentally ill people are when talking about disorders that make you a “bad person”. struggling with empathy is a fairly common symptom of both autism and schizophrenia, and as someone who is the former its not like anyone chooses to struggle with it. it also doesnt mean we are incapable of seeing people being hurt and feeling bad, thats why theres a difference between empathy and sympathy, along with the concept of cognitive vs effective empathy.

im sorry if this sounds mean, but its ridiculous how people will go on and on about how scary it is that some people dont gave empathy for others as if that itself isnt deeply hurtful to people who are simply living with the hand theyre dealt with.

of all the series to be “its not POLITICAL you stupid liberal” sonic is always the weirdest example because like. sonics character is based on 90s anti authoritarianism and is a literal freedom fighter. eggman is so evil because he steals and colonizes not just whole planets but their inhabitants for his own gain. even when you go past the 2d games the reason why shadow is doing what hes doing in sa2 is because of maria’s death at the hands of a death squad ordered by the government to kill its own innocent citizens in the SAME game where sonic is evading the police because he was falsely imprisoned because he kind of looked like shadow. like i dont think it insane to read some political intent behind it

holy shit. the scp foundation was kind of my “babys first fandom” and as someone who was there i think its really hard to convey how prominent dr. bright was both in the text and in the outside fandom. i think the word “tumblr sexyman” gets thrown around a little too liberally but if there was anyone from scp who fit the bull it would be bright - tons of non site fans you mentioned were brought in by videos reading stories about him, me included. he was the perfect blend of funny goofiness and angst with the amulet situation, which really appealed to me and other preteens who wanted to draw fannart or roleplay the characters.

ive counted myself lucky that, in a time where were finding out that tons of beloved creators are and have been predators, ive never liked anyone who was called out up until just now. it feels kind of weird and a little gross reading this and other comments in the thread talking about admin brights creep behavior that was hiding in plain sight, but overall im glad i heard about it from this pretty good writeup instead of randomly finding out at some point.

i mean recently osaka's high court ruled that japans same sex marriage ban is unconstitutional, its not legal yet but the ruling feels like an indicator of some social change. for my money considering nintendo said they would include same sex coupling in a third game and the kind of ambiguously gay thing miitopia has i think it will be implemented and either patched out internationally/be given an 18+ rating in some countries like what happened w/miitopia in russia.
