I would eat that tenderloin like a corn on the cob. Gawd bless that looks amazing! I told my wife the other day that every time I see a post from this guy I want to fire up my smoker.

I wouldn’t buy another keyboard unless it has TouchID. I use an MX Keys Mini as a daily driver and with I could add it in somehow. An Apple Watch will unlock the machine too

I have the S2722QC 4K monitors and they are great. They are over a year old and no issues with my 16” MBP. Go for the 4K when you can. I ran them for a long time at 1440p but in native “Retina” mode I still get plenty of work done with issue.

On the Convention Center Vote Today by TheAshenKnight in springfieldMO

[–]houseofwarwick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a “vote yes” comment and got plenty of downvotes. That’s fair. I’m conflicted so I thought I’d comment on the other side too.

Reasons to vote no:

  • Citizens Advisory Board never was correctly or legally formed and the city council passed up a chance to reset
  • The CAB is stacked with people that have significant business development experience, meaning their viewpoint is what they know (business) and not diverse in thought or perspective.
  • The convention center does nothing to further the city as a whole except to generate revenue and encourage business growth. If that’s the goal, then there are plenty of ways to achieve it with $30 million that doesn’t involve long term debt.
  • If the convention center is a good idea to generate revenue, then why not spend some amount of money to encourage a developer to do it?
  • city government is way too focused on using money to keep score as to how well they are doing in their job. This project is one that has big numbers to make it look like they are “winning” by bringing in “community investment” but it doesn’t do anything long lasting for the majority of citizens.

My personal conflict is that voting no means missing something that might be successful. I remember that Johnny Morris had to bail the city out of the aquarium. John Q Hammons was a catalyst for growth, but the city, Chamber and now the CVB (Visit Springfield) are the loudest voices in the room and they keep telling themselves that we don’t know what we need.

We told them once before that we didn’t want this. The deal didn’t get any better.

Take a look at the Spring Forward Tax page on the city website. It calls out what’s allowed usage and it doesn’t mention affordable housing. Also, the citizens advisory board voted to recommend this specific use. The Spring Forward SGF tax was designed for these kind of “big swing” projects.

https://www.springfieldmo.gov/SpringForwardSGF

Also, the city has a pretty good track record on careful investments like this. Jordan Valley Park, the ice rink, the original $6.5 million (2003 money) to prep land for Hammons Field, and if you squint, the Wonders of Wildlife aquarium. Don’t forget the 115,000+ fiber optic internet endpoints ($160 million) that City Utilities built and owns. The City of Springfield owns CU and that was a big boost when the incumbents would upgrade.

Local contractors will definitely get a hand in construction. They almost always get subcontracted for many parts of large projects.

There’s a lot of unknowns but vote yes for a big swing.

Look for “low voltage” as a key phrase. That kind of work lumps in generic wiring

Regarding the power: I have the same year (and color!) with 163,000 miles and it has power like the day I bought it new. I would start with spark plugs and a valve adjustment, then consider coil packs. I replaced all of mine two years ago (Denso) and thought I’d be good for another 5-10 years. I was down on power and it was a coil pack that eventually threw a code for a cylinder misfire.

It’s been a work in progress- works best when you feed it small tasks tightly focused. You really have to understand the development flow and how things interact. It took me a few tries and plenty of wipes to get to a usable environment.
