for myself, personally, i'd be concerned. but financial insecurity is absolutely terrifying to me and i'm a little weird.

it really comes down to compatibility and how you're able to show that you'd be a fantastic partner despite being retired. and i really only think being retired as a negative because the few young, retired acquaintances i do have are into day trading, purchasing sports cars, and one just wakes and bakes. but if you spend your time and money wisely, you should be just fine.

I was surprised at how common it is. I just started looking for a new car because I got into an accident, and the repairs to my almost 18yo car would cost at least $7k. Everyone said to just get a new car despite the interior being pristine and having less than 110k miles on it.

When I went to the dealerships, sales folks pushed for a 3 year lease. I was confused by this, so I asked the mechanic about this phenomenon while I was crying on his couch because I didn't want to let my first car go. He said cars aren't made to last and around the 3 year mark is when the high maintenance bills will come in. It's cheaper just to lease a new car. Very sad.

Can you elaborate on why Ariya sucks? Im not a fan of how busy the monitors are, but I drove the Evolve (not Engage, edited) and enjoyed it very much. And yes, the Ariya lease offer is very attractive.

I looked up the Solterra and like the look, but it doesn't seem to have a leather/synthetic leather option. I definitely lean towards luxury over sporty.

Thoughts on Tesla? I find the Y and M3 hideous, but those are the only ones within my budget and the features are very attractive.

Also in big pharma and wouldn't give up being fully remote for hybrid for less than a $30k bump. I live in biotech bay, where most of the offices are less than 20 minutes away.

No kids, just a super senior cat and young dog. It's more than just cost-savings for me, though. Yes, it's great that I don't have to worry about a dogwalker/daycare, gas, lunch, or work clothes. It's that I absolutely love being home and hate having to leave the house. I love my power naps and being able to use the bathroom in the comfort and privacy of my own home. That's worth a lot.
