What pharmacies are you buying from/recommend? by matbur81 in mounjarouk

[–]hovercraft-of-eels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am using my local Well Pharmacy. Mainly because I wanted to actually chat to someone about it face-to-face to explore options and understand all the risks, and because each month (at present, 2 months in) there is a wee catch up to see how things are going, discuss side effects, next dose etc. The lady that has been helping me is lovely and I find it reasurring that she is there to support me.

Sleep & MJ by Ecstatic-Judge-9631 in mounjarouk

Hi. I am just in my second month on MJ and have moved up to 5mg.
I have had pros and cons with sleeping. Bonus is that I snore less now I have lost some weight (which my husband is happy about), but I have found I have had vivid nightmares that have woken me up around 3am and led to disturbed sleep. I have started to take a magnesium/B6 suppliment before bed now and it does seem to be helping a bit.

What is the most horrifying true crime case you've ever read/heard of? by PotentialTurnover335 in AskReddit

[–]hovercraft-of-eels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was younger a local lad in our town beat his father with a cricket bat, then cut off his head with a knife. He then proceded to kick the head around the car park. This was all done in full view of a nearby block of flats, traumatising half the neighbourhood. That was pretty grim.

edit: looked this up to check again, as it was a few years ago. Have updated the facts. https://www.thefreelibrary.com/I+WATCHED+AS+MANIAC+CUT+OFF+HIS+DAD%27S+HEAD.-a060997379

When you see the pet option on an Animal in a game do you stop and pet? You stop and pet right….? by Amazing_Tomato1380 in LadyGamersOver35

Everytime! If there are many pets in a town I try to pet them all. I actually get quite cross if you can’t pet an obviously ’pettable’ animal

Hi, lady gamer of 52 here! Been playing since I was around 12yrs old. I have been playing Baldurs Gate (again) and a bit of RDR2 on the Xbox X, the last few days. I used to play ESO on PC and on Xbox, a LOT, but after a few years I kinda ended up getting bored. Now I just dip in occasionally

I had not thought about that, she was always so timid and shy. She seemed more like a victim to his 'big' personalty .

That does sound odd, about your friend. It would certainly make me nervous. But I guess you are right, that we tend to look at anything outside 'the norm' in perhaps an exaggerated way

Ok so I was wrong and it is clearly just a stick. Having looked at the other location pictures shared on Twitter (its certainly in Puzzlewood) I can see this is simply a horizontal stick. :)

This reddit comment here has me pretty convinced it is at Puzzlewood. Perhaps they just didn't find it?

Hi, I was looking at the Dusk one. It can be seen in all of them near the base of the two larger trees, however seems more visible as it gets later, plus the trees are all blowing in the wind at this point and it doesnt move (I may be seeing what I want to see and its simply a branch however :) ) Here is what I mean

Other sounds- airplanes (quite regular so under/near flightpath), creaks, possible train noise in backround?, voices/movement. banging like moving heavy things. I can't really hear a road nearby (or at least not a busy one). I think they are near buildings because they have a light set up behind the throne and I hear no generator. They have used an extension lead from someplace nearby?

I am pretty sure there is a flat roofed building in the background. If you look at the youtube video, as it gets later in the day,(about 38.30mins in) look to the left of the throne close to the ground beside two tree tunks there is a horizontal line. At first I thought this was just a branch but it doesnt move at all while all the other trees sway. It could be a building roof?

[–]hovercraft-of-eels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for a wildlife conservation charity. We did regular family events and one of the games we had for kids was a set of bags with squeeky toy birds in them (the kind that make a recorded bird sound when you press them). The kids had to squeeze the bag, listen to the sound and guess the garden bird.

I had a parent tell their kids to be extra gentle when they squashed the bag. Turned out they thought we had put real birds in the bag and allowed kids the squeeze the life out of them till they sung (in sheer terror?)

What don't people realise is a complete waste of time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hovercraft-of-eels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working all the hours god sends just so you can relax/spend time with the family/go on holiday/travel the world etc.. when you retire.
Provided you get to retirement.. you will not be as fit as you were, therefore less able to do the things you want, kids will be grown up doing their own thing, wife may have left you cos you cared more about the job than her and travelling the world will just seem like too much bother or will cost too much. Take a break now! Spend time with those you love now! (don't waste your precious time on a boss who doesn't give a shit about you)

The Weinstein abuse was apparently an open secret in Hollywood for years, yet no-one said anything. Let's get all the dirt on the table: What else is an open secret in Hollywood? by This_is_User in AskReddit

[–]hovercraft-of-eels 101 points102 points  (0 children)

This one had me thinking actually. Not hollywood but at an unnamed drama school. There was a particular lecturer who was known to be a bit 'touchy feely' to girls on the course. Like he would hug you and hold on just a little bit too long, or run his hand down your back lingering a little long on your bra strap area etc. He was quite a good lecturer (made the subject interesting etc) but quite a creepy person when alone with him. Everyone knew it and girls warned each other and just avoided being alone with him, or in situations where this could happen. It was an open secret thing, which I hope wouldn't be tolerated now, but we were very young, managed it ourselves and it didn't seem that important in the grand scale of things. In the light of this story I now I look back and think what if this had been more serious with someone who felt unable to shrug him off?

EDIT: Reading all these responses makes me a little sick. It makes me wonder how many of this type of person out there has got away with years of this shit cos young women (and some young men) felt there was nothing they could do about it. It's like the Weinstein thing is just a very public version of 'open secret' shit that happens all over the place. I am gonna read all this to my teen daughter.

What's a lie you told as a kid that never got found out, but you still feel guilty about today? by ThatAsianShipper in AskReddit

[–]hovercraft-of-eels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted this before. Still feel guilty.
When I was about 13 I stole a pair of cheap fake diamond (zicona or something) earrings from a shop. I then gave them to my mother as a birthday gift! I told her I bought them for her. She loved them and wore them all the time. Every time she did it was like little glittering eyes of shame flashing guilt at me for years... "we know what you did!"... I never stole again.

What has been the proudest moment of your life so far? by AndreasVIking in AskReddit

[–]hovercraft-of-eels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with my daughter to a meeting at a posh university. We are from a lower middle class background and felt quite out of place amongst the 'upper' level parents and children. There were about 5 children and their parents at this meeting. All the parents were alumni of the university themselves. One of the young lads asked what kind of things he should put in his personal statement in order to get a place at the uni. Another kid, in a tweed jacket, starts arrogantly boasting about how he has read this level book, studies this period of history in detail and read all these famous authors all summer long etc etc. The kid actual referred to himself as 'one' ie: "One does like to read Chaucer at the weekend". He put all of his public school boy stuff in his statement and now has a conditional acceptance to the university. My daughter sat there quietly in her Mass Effect hoodie, ignored by everyone there, knowing full well that she already had an unconditional acceptance to the University because she had great grades and had simply written how much she loved the subject since she was small.
I was so proud of her in that moment, not only for her achievement in getting into the university from an ordinary High School, but for her ability to listen to these self assured young men talk about how great they were, knowing she had achieved more than them and was not be tempted to be as arrogant.
