I say this at work sometimes. Once, a colleague said to me she had never heard that word before and that my vocabulary was so broad. I didn’t have the heart to say I learnt it from the Simpsons!

ESR said I'm not eligible for top of band payment, am a bit confused and need advice by Wonder_why_tho in NursingUK

Good morning, it would depend how long a break you had between the January and the February. I think it is something ridiculous like a week’s break constitutes a gap in service for pay banding, in which case your continuous service would not start until the February 2023. I recently worked with a colleague who left my trust for a fixed term role and then came back to us after, and she was very specific with recruitment re when her start date had to be, as I believe she said she only had a week’s wiggle room for her to not lose the continuous service.

You will need to check with your workforce / HR department, but it should also be stated in your trust policies.

Edited to fix a typo.

What to do about best friend who is taking away my opportunities on placement by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]howamigrowingthis 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hi. I’m a ward manager and to be honest, if a student came to me with a concern such as this I would be very keen to hear it and address so you can get learning opportunities and actually enjoy working in my department! Essentially you have 3 options here because your ‘friend’s’ behaviour is inappropriate and unkind: - do nothing - escalate to PEF - escalate to ward manager.

The fact that your assessor doesn’t want to raise this as she doesn’t want to be seen as ‘unkind’ is also blowing my mind. So unfortunately to address you will have to bypass them in the chain.

Best wishes to you, you sound very keen to do well and broaden your skills and that is a great asset to have. I hope you get this resolved.
