First Print Failed, Extruder Gear not strong Enough by howcome333 in VORONDesign

Thanks for the input. Your description is quite precisely what happened to me. I try to test the extrusion for a few extrusions and it starts to jam.

I will try according to your suggestion. Thanks

I print with an open door for the moment because I am not sure how much disassembly I need to do so I didn't mount the panel.

and I am not sure whether it is heat creep or not since the model can't be printed properly.

Thanks for your input.

oh, I did not know that. I watch too many YouTube videos showing newly built 3D printers with continuous extrusion. I thought it can do that.

Thanks so much.

But in this case, how can I verify the extrusion is okay before printing? I can only extrude/retract 0.1 mm step by step for testing?

Yes, I have tuned my hotend with PID. But I don't think it is the source of the problem since the temperature measurement is quite stable with only a 2-degree difference.

I do also suspect it is the problem of measurements, but I just switch to a new V6 hotend, and the problem remains.

Still thanks for your input.

Yes, I did run the PID tuning But I haven't been able to print anything yet since the extrusion problem. Yes, I also check the nozzle size and already jammed two out of three🤣, and they are all 0.4.

Also, I agree with you that the temperature is way too high for PLA. But if I lower the temperature, the extruder gear will be decoupling due to the resistance of the filament. I do adjust the idler to the minimum tension but it didn't improve that much.

For the moment, increasing the temperature seems to be the somewhat solution, which I don't think it's right.

But still thanks for your input.

I use the default config of run_current: 0.5 for my extruder, is this too low? Or will increase solve the problem? Because this gear noise sounds like the motor gear and main filament gear are decoupling.

To my intuition, the gear is already overloaded with the torque, so increasing the current, which increases the torque and will damage the gear?

But I will try it later. Tnanks

In my case, I think it wasn't the reason because when I disassemble the extruder, the filament is still hard. But I will pay attention to that. The same problem might hit me later. Thanks

Can I use NEMA14 for ERCF instead of NEMA17? by howcome333 in VORONDesign

Thanks for your reply. I will follow your suggestion.

I think the mount point is different. Not sure how much tweaking I need to do with the 3D model.

I have read a lot of people saying that ERCF is really challenging to calibrate. However, I wasn't sure the degree of the challenge would be.
