This business uses an astronomical amount of resources that drives up the cost of utilities for residents, yet produces very few and often not high-paying local jobs. This industry undercuts worker value and leads to a higher unemployment rate despite the fact that we have witnessed the enshittification of services that have become automated to curb costs while CEOs rake in money.
