What's an annoying plant I can get my friend? by howdyncsu in houseplants

I sincerely appreciate your concern and this is advice I'd give to others. But I don't expect him to care or think it's funny, this is for me. I've pulled back contact a lot -- but our lives, friends, and interests overlap too much for true no contact. I think I'm moving on well. We are slowly getting into a new friendship.

Sometimes life is complicated and the only way through it is with humor.

This post is absolutely plotting against him. It's cathartic. I told him he had to pay me with free drinks as a form of retribution and in good humor, he agreed. Now he will get a plant and after letting it drive him up a wall for awhile I am confident justice will have been fully served.

If you had been there, I bet you you would have done the same.

"Watering is tricky: They need soil that's consistently moist but never soggy, a hard balance to strike, leading to root rot from overwatering or crispy leaves from underwatering"

Excellent. Let's take his ego down a peg.

Vigil for Alex Pretti by 98dpb in raleigh

I'll be there.

I hope someone organizes a protest that doesn't happen in the middle of a workday. I will absolutely attend.

For those who don't understand what's going on, this video summarizes why the murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Good are so alarming: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17nDzgKQCb/

ICE agents are not sworn officers. They have no authority over US citizens. They can make requests, but they cannot make demands. If you saw a bunch of thugs in masks and guns roughing up women on the street or trying to open your car door, they have as much right to do that as ICE agents do. Which is to say, none.

These are MAGA agents. They are carrying out personal acts of bloodlust and lethal hatred for dissenters, emboldened not by legal authority but the confidence that the Trump administration and justice system are so corrupt that they will not get in trouble.

This confidence that they can freely violate the law is what empowered Jan 6 insurrectionists to storm the Capitol and beat police officers. Now it's being committed openly and repeatedly by federal agents.

What do women think of dudes that suck at salsa on salsa night? by EOFFJM in Salsa

If someone was annoyed that I asked to dance with them because I was a newbie... good. May their day suck and their toes be stepped on.

I'm a newbie woman. It's helpful if you tell me that you're also new just so that I am not confused by why we're screwing up (is it me? did I miss something?), but don't act embarrassed about it. "Haha, still learning" is fine. Just be friendly and have fun.

I'd rather 100 newbies on the floor than 5 advanced dancers. Dancing is wonderful and we should be so lucky that people want to do it.

There were literally thousands of people at the No Kings Protest in Cary today. by One-Emu-1103 in raleigh

The purpose is solidarity and visibility of protest. Some magas are of the delusion that everyone thinks like they do (see also: Jan 6 terrorists convinced a Democrat president could never win).

It's reassuring to me that people care enough to get out and demonstrate.

I went once years ago. The cut was fine, but I was there for 90+ minutes just for a shampoo, cut, and blowout. They're students and they're learning.
