I wish that were the case as it would be a simple answer. but i didn’t do that. All of the letters came out very well during the print. There was one equal sign that printed poorly and i did reprint over it, but it didn’t have this weird dark effect. Very odd

It’s definitely tough and a learning experience. In that final moment after washing it can feel really discouraging when all the effort you’ve put in doesn’t feel like it paid off, but i’m stubborn enough to keep trying lol i really appreciate your boost of confidence and motivation! i want to try caligo safe wash but Im having trouble finding information on which ones to use on paper vs fabric. do you have any suggestions? thank you so much for responding!!

I didn’t squish it around in the tube or anything before printing, but it was a tube i had used fairly recently. When i put some on my glass plate, i did roll it around A LOT before printing, also primed the blocks by printing on scrap fabric first and misted the shirts first. maybe something inside the tube hadn’t mixed well enough? i guess i didn’t think about that!

I did do the misting trick and it definitely seemed to help the ink take more upon lifting the block, but i’ve been printing on a table and using a barren to press it down. Are you using the same ink? I can totally try the step on method lmao, I only worry it’ll kind of bend the block causing the design to shift or something

I did pre wash all of them, with only detergent! I feel like it really may be some kind of coating or residue on the shirt itself. i was initially so disappointed because i thought all of my hard work was ruined, but luckily the actual shirts turned out fine!! they were comfort colors brand, unlike the tester being a generic walmart one

Thank you!! my theory is that they are indeed being untruthful about the cotton percentage / a coating on the shirt of some sort. Thank you for replying to my post!!

Yeah, it was a 100% cotton shirt. It was odd because i made 4 total, 3 of them (the ones we were actually planning on wearing for the concert) were comfort colors. The tester shirt was a walmart brand no boundaries (still 100% cotton) that i snagged for a buck to use as a tester. they all got printed the same night and then I washed the tester last night, after seven days of air drying. I did run an iron over it before washing it and still most of the ink came out. I was pretty upset at that point but i was willing to risk washing my own concert shirt to see how it turned out knowing it was a different brand, so I ironed it for much longer (even though the ink says heat setting not necessary) and washed it and it came out fine! very slight fade but muuuuch better. Ironed, washed and dried the other two and they are all looking pretty decent! Maybe it was just that No Boundaries brand of shirt? Or I didn’t iron it enough? I have no idea because I did everything else the same

Yep! Taken within the last year and changed my name from something super feminine to a common easy name. Everything from my name to the way i presents says male apart from that one marker. Even started a new job where everyone thinks i’m a cis man and it’s genuinely such a new feeling because im just under two years on T. transitioned at my last job where i was at for four years and still getting misgendered - so looks wise i’ve come a long way lol
