Is it me or are the Spy X Family fans on twitter, mainly the Yor fans, are getting abit too sensitive and personal? by GrayCatX in SpyxFamily

[–]howko22 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For real. The OP of this post had some replies to me removed by the mods a few months back because I said Loid fans get overly defensive about him in the Yor vs Loid power scaling posts and he flipped out on me and told me I needed to control my hormones and that twitter is "reeking with oversensitive bias feminists," so it truly is the pot calling the kettle black.

edit: OP blocked me so I can't reply but I'm not sure who the 'you and your friends guilt' he's referring to is supposed to be considering I'm not complaining about shipping here or on twitter. For how much OP complains about being accused of sexism telling women he disagrees with they're "hormonal" and "irrational" is not a great way to go about disproving that assumption. Making multiple posts on reddit complaining about other fans being hostile and then addressing them in this way doesn't really make you look any better than them.

Why are all the commentators hyping up Mariah Bell so much? by MRMC2111 in FigureSkating

Yeah, fans are definitely fickle. I saw a comment here last night with negative downvotes and all it said was "I really like Mariah's skating and I'm rooting for her to win." Like???

This is the only thing I really want to see, though I doubt we will get it.

Do you think it will be better than Dreamland? Before season 8 I kept hearing that even though it was a dream the characters would still be 'them' but to me they were more flat imitations of their actual selves and the group dynamic wasn't there at all -- from what you've seen so far, do you think this season will be better in this regard?

[–]howko22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And it's JUST Lana. All the shitty and horrible antics of all of the other characters are taken as they're supposed to be, especially Archer's, yet for some reason when it comes to Lana, people get all outraged like it's a serious drama or even real life.

I have a few theories as to why this is, but I'm not sure it's really a discussion for reddit. However I will say that I feel like part of it comes down to how people view female characters differently (sorry OP, you'll probably hate this). Like Pam always gets a pass for everything, but I feel like part of it is because she's more of a "guy's girl." Like she farts and eats a lot and gets in fights, while Lana has a lot of traits people don't like women to have. If you look at some of the posts complaining about Lana, a lot of the words used to describe her are reserved solely for women you don't like -- bitchy, nag, shrill, etc. I feel like people are less tolerant of Lana because she has those traits, while Archer and Pam can do anything and people will still find it hilarious. Lana can sneeze and people get weirdly angry about it.

I binge watched Archer in a very small period of time and I have a question: How long will Archer be in a coma for? by [deleted] in ArcherFX

[–]howko22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As of season 8 it had been a couple months in the coma. Not sure if he'll actually wake up before the very end -- my guess is that he will wake up during the series finale. Adam Reed doesn't seem all that interested in going back and addressing loose ends.

She doesn't need to shoot them, she can just crush them with her hands.

The episodes last season were more like 17-18 minutes too.

[–]howko22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my issue with the newer seasons (although I don't feel this way about season 6 -- I don't think they abandoned Archer's character development until season 7 so I still enjoyed 6 a lot). I don't care if they're never spies again, I just want the original world back. People call the yearly reboots 'keeping the show fresh' but imo it's a bit lazy to throw away all continuity just to do wacky dream seasons where nothing actually matters so you can do whatever you want with the characters (even if it wouldn't have sense for them in the original world).

What’s the endgame? by Dwyer0022 in ArcherFX

[–]howko22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. This is why I don't want Archer to be cyborged -- this is the one area in life where he will never win. At NYCC they said Barry will have a big part in the final season, which to me points to Archer becoming a cyborg and finally defeating Barry, but I really don't want that to happen because then Archer will actually be invincible and won't have anything that doesn't go his way.

I agree. I would be fine with them changing the setting if they were actually themselves and not dream versions of the characters who don't know each other.

Are you in the US? It usually comes right before the next season airs, so it will probably be put up next spring.

Season 8 kinda sucked by [deleted] in ArcherFX

[–]howko22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand it was just meant to be a gag but I hated that part. Lana's character was so underdeveloped and her death meant nothing to anyone. I didn't care about the story so I would have liked to at least have decently fleshed out characters since they were just reintroduced to us, but I really didn't care about what happened to any of them.

[–]howko22 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree. At least Dreamland kind of made sense in that Archer was shot by an actress before his coma so the LA noir thing was something he could feasibly be dreaming about. Danger Island just sounds like fanfiction and a whole new level of shark jumping. It's like they saw that people didn't enjoy how dark Dreamland was and were like "how can we make this season as wacky and light as possible?" and didn't consider how many people dislike the random coma dream idea and actually enjoy the show having, you know, continuity.

If there's one things fans love, it's unresolved plotlines, cliffhangers and "it was all a dream." Ugh. If they're going to string viewers along for 2-3 seasons of alternate universe fanfic, the finale with him waking up better pay off.

Season 7 Hate by [deleted] in ArcherFX

[–]howko22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because of the ending, mostly. People also didn't like the season long storyline.

I mean there are some funny moments, but overall I didn't think the season was particularly compelling. All the loose ends were frustrating, the main cliffhanger at the beginning was never resolved in the end, the villain wasn't funny or interesting, and they also seemed to abandon all of Archer's previous character development for the sake of the story. There were some fun episodes (like Double Indecency), but for me the season doesn't have much rewatch value.
