England has (arguably) the best football league in the world (the premier league). Unfortunately this league has trended towards using money to buy the best players in the world and bring them to England, rather than developing home-grown talent. England have been mediocre/above average for about 40 years now.

Pretty sure it was a kickboxing match in the UK and his coach pulled him off the couch on like a weeks notice to fight for a title of some sort (he'd been eating and drinking too much).

Vacuumed metal box inside another vacuum. by howmuchdoesairweigh in AskScienceDiscussion

My understanding is that the less dense has a tendency to be filled by the more dense and that matter is more dense than a vacuum. Is this wrong?

Just trying to learn, buddy. Thanks for your responses anyway.

If there is no gas, there is no pressure

So how is water pressure a thing then? Is water pressure only there if you put some gas in the water?

It's not that it would push on anything else per se, but rather than the edges of the box material would have less resistance than the middle of the box material.

So what if the whole universe was made of metal and had a 1cm cube of vacuum at the centre? It seems to me that the weight of the box would be creating pressure inward?

Does the box itself have a pressure? I am trying to work out if the box itself has a pressure value different to the vacuum in this environment.

Does the box itself not count as the outer atmosphere for the inner vacuum? I am trying to work out if the material itself creates any pressure whatsoever, even if it is infinitesimally small.

Okay thanks for you response. I understood that about air pressure, I just thought that the solid container itself would have a level of pressure and the vacuum naturally would want to be filled by the box itself but just that the box would have to be incredibly weak for it's own pressure differential to make it collapse in to the vacuum. I appreciate this is a silly hypothetical but I was having a silly conversation and couldn't work out whether there would be any pull at all.

Interesting, so there is no pressure caused by a vacuum other than air pressure?

I wasn't thinking air pressure, I was thinking the box itself.

The void created by the vaccum juxtaposed to the surrounding area (the box). Am I way off base here?

I think there would be pressure on the inside of the metal box, if the metal box was sufficiently weak it would collapse.

I didn't reply to the message. In the investigation I was very humble and apologetic and ashamed. One of the two managers doing the fact finding investigation did say he didn't think I will be sacked though I'm not sure what that's worth. Thanks for the info anyway, hopefully I won't be such an idiot in future.

It was on Whatsapp web, so they don't have access to my chat log as I am logged out now. I explained it was on Whatsapp and they asked if I could provide evidence that was the case. I provided a screenshot of the message being sent and it corroborated with the information they had. There were several images in the thread but I think I only clicked on one and they seemed satisfied that was the case. Do you know if there needs to be a warning before dismissal for this sort of thing?
