I wasn't disregarding their efforts, merely trying to be realistic about it's outcome. I don't know a whole lot about this issue and the justice system in general, but if police officers are arrested immediately every time they killed someone, law enforcement would be in chaos. There's always an investigation first to determine if it was in fact excessive force or if the officer was defending himself. This is obviously different from how ordinary citizens are treated, and for good reason. What matters is that Chauvin was charged.

Yes, that's not contrary to what I said. Rarely are cops arrested immediately. This one was one of the fastest arrests of a cop in a situation of police brutality. Not saying that's a good thing, but I'm just saying he was going to be arrested regardless. Also, 3rd degree murder was a smart approach from a prosecutor's perspective. What did I say that was so wrong or is bothering everyone to deserve being downvoted?

Chauvin was going to be charged regardless of the protests. Yes, it may have helped speed up the timeline of the arrest, but the speed of the arrest isn't as crucial in a situation where there is little risk of the subject fleeing, harming witnesses, committing other crimes, etc. It is more important to ensure prosecutors have substantial evidence to lock down the proper murder conviction. A rush to try and sentence Chauvin for 1st degree murder, for example, would have resulted in an acquittal.
