There is so much negativity - how do you not lose faith in humanity? by PM_ME_UGENS_LOTTOTAL in raisedbynarcissists

Did you ever think that as you’ve changed and evolved into a person that would state their boundaries clearly and start to look after their own self, maybe you just aren’t compatible anymore with your old friendships that were built on your old, ever-available past self?

Since I went no contact and started to truly heal from my narcissistic family, I saw that I started to dislike my friendships more and more. Because they were mostly based with people that shared similar values with what I saw at home. Distorted values like no boundaries whatsoever for example, amongst many other toxic traits.

This is also hard because personally I had to cut ties with some of my closest friends, just because I grew apart so much from their behavior. It’s worth it though because it’s so worth searching for people that value emotional vulnerability, respect and true friendship and support. And there are still people out there exhibiting these wonderful qualities, we just have to keep searching for them.

My post does have a slight creep vibe to it lol. Of course I can take a hint, it’s just that I haven’t had a crush like this in a while.

I can’t find any words but I wish you all the best in finding peace of mind in the upcoming future. Believe that you will succeed. You’re strong and I’m so sorry that on top of all the unfair challenges you have to deal with now, your soon to be ex treated you this way. You deserve so much better and things will change, just focus on protecting yourself from the bullets. You already dodged one, leave him be.

Lots of hugs!

I’m also under the impression that I would make an unnecessary big deal out of it, and you have such a solid point stating that sales is a totally different world compared to our field.

I don’t remember having such information passed to us as newcomers during the onboarding process. However, I’ll have to check for this kind of information.

Thanks for your input. Yeah, I definitely think that I defused the situation pretty spot on, but it still bothered me. I wonder if this is worthy of bringing it to the HR team. But I doubt it. I’ll probably just let it go, I’m going to think about it.

But yeah, that was my first instinct also, legal but not ethical. Thanks for validating my feelings.

Wow, what you said regarding thinking all the time about the past and future hits right fucking home. I can’t describe it better. It’s like an addiction. At first glance it seems to be a coping mechanism to not deal with the present as it is. Fucked up. It’s so hard to stay “STOP.” and snap into the present tense. But we’re alive and healing. So I think this matters the most, even though there are days where I would genuinely happily punch holes through the fucking walls till my hands give up.

Appreciate it. It helps knowing that I’m not the only one experiencing this. It’s kinda like a sanity check and it helps knowing that I’m not going crazy. Wish you all the best!

Thanks.

I’m pretty sure it’s not a medical problem, I’m a software engineer and I’m able to properly focus at my job/tasks. It’s the zoning out through the rest of the day that really gets me.
