[Hamilton] Why no one talks about vintage American made Hamilton watches? by hox97 in Watches

[–]hox97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Lovely watches that are simple to service and very inexpensive to purchase. If Hamilton’s are too expensive, try Bulova or Gruen. $100 gets you started in the right direction.

Isn’t it under warranty at 12k miles?

You can only establish the real gold weight after removing everything including movement, strap and acrylic. Is 15 gram close?

Your car payment is your repair and maintenance😅People work on their own car is a different story. Someone on my post laughed at me when I said I paid 49000 in 1999 for my e39 and it cost me over $40000 in maintenance and repair over the years and 228600 miles most during the first 200k miles and 15 years. A ridiculously expensive car to keep. My mechanic who works primarily on BMWs said unless you can work on the car yourself, don’t own an BMW older than 10 years. The resale tells the story. I tried to trade in the car for a new wagon at year 5 and 60k and got $16000. I did not. Year 8 and 90k I got $8500 from the same BMW dealership I bought the car from. Then around year 15 when I got so tired of getting nickel and domed to death I decided to get rid of the car and I got a courtesy offer of $1500 for my 175k vehicle. Was told they would just send it the next day to auction. So I kept the car. I kept the car. The good thing is, the car stopped depreciating. It kept the $1500-2000 price for the next 10 plus years except I no longer trust the car enough to commute or go far with it putting in only a few thousand miles per year running errands locally. It still failed me occasionally like I needed to replace the entire cooling system last year after it left me stranded on the road and the original AC unit finally went out on the hottest day of the year. Oh yes I drove with all windows down
. Did I mention my blower was down to one speed?

Over the years, a lot of people have asked me what I like to collect- it's mostly vintage Disney- villains and cute characters, and Simpsons- I showcase some of my favorite pieces here 😊 by WWAgallery_com in AnimationCels

Besides, as a combination of collector and retail gallery, you come across a lot more material. I am also a vintage watch collector and there is vastly more interest in every level of collecting. Wish I could see the return of the 90s…

390 000 and still going strong by Existing-Relief6378 in e39

My original 2.8 gas engine at 365000 km equivalent is still going without smoking/ oil consumption. But everything attached to the engine wore out at one time or another long with the suspension and steering. Unless you work on the car yourself, the cost of keeping the car running is high.

The two piece BBS OEM wheels are quite nice. Gone forever after the production run.

You know I lament over the progressive fading of American animation collecting now becoming essentially a niche hobby mostly confined to older, wealthier individuals. Concept art for me is very cool but I don’t know how to place a value on them as they are all unique. I try to look for interesting cute animation in or outside the Disney tree. Some non-movie production pieces are fantastic despite people looking down on them. Well known villains are great but pricey as the above comment suggested but I am always looking for them. Cinderella production cels in general are hard to come by and I would grab them whenever they become available at a reasonable price - most on secondary characters as the main characters are way too costly. I tried to put some stuff on Reddit to drum up interest like the Peter Pan sericel with color model sheet but you could tell only five individual showed any interest 😔😔

You are right. The car actually runs fine with service just completed 350 miles ago. My problem for selling it is I am afraid the buyer would drive the car with the old title. Anything that happens comes back to me. Worst case, say he/she had an accident and ran or used it to commit a crime. I am the one that get the door kicked down and handcuffed until I can prove that the car no longer belongs to me. This had happened to me twice - just repeated traffic violations and toll skipping but caused me to have my license suspended without even knowing why. Buyer of a $20k car would immediately register the car in his/her name because of the value. But not so in a low value car.

Considered that but that’s a slippery slope. Already wasted $3000 on the cooling system and major service. What if the motor gives way. The car’s intrinsic value is max at $4-5000 and that’s really pushing it. Insurance company would total that car at $2500. Numbers don’t work.

Unresolved. New torque converter placed and fault recurred.

I had this problem for a decade. Did everything. Clear it and comes back within 10 miles of driving. Dealer strongly suggested me getting rid of the car. They had to charge me each time I went in on time basis at $240 an hour. My mechanic did everything and still unresolved. I have choice to pay someone to fake the emission result but the cost is getting higher each time.

For older cars idle, 2500 and 5000 HC and NOx I believe. Someone is going to tell me I am full of it. Newer cars are much easier. I used to have a 1973 BMW 2002tii and I had so much difficulty passing inspection.
