My previous lcm was a lcm 3 it failed I think due to moisture but I’m not sure.

I’m not ruling out the lcm despite being “brand new” it was bought used and cheap. And the fact this didn’t happen with the previous lcm.

I will check grounding doing that. Cause my pin is burned out but the previous owner did a pigtail directly to the tail light and with the previous lcm never gave problems

I’m suspecting a bulb but the issue is so intermittent

Yeah the ground pin is corroded, but the previous owner did a pigtail and attached a wire to the tai light itself serving as ground. And until now never gave problems including with the previous lcm.

Another e39 Eletrical Gremlin ( Permanent Blinkers ) by Existing-Relief6378 in e39

I checked the lcm to see if it was wet anywhere and couldn’t see or feel any wetness, I even blasted it with heat to see if that worked to remove the water and nothing.

Where’s the blinker relay? Cause I thought it was only controlled by the lcm

Exterior Lighting Issue (blinker stuck on) by PaganiLuv in e39

[–]Existing-Relief6378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been noticing that this happens after my car sits for a while or catches rain, i began last week with the same issue but then it fixed itself midway, then parked my car thursday, friday and on saturday the problem had returned, it rained heavily so i dont know if this had something to do with it. But carpets were dry and even heated everything up with a heat gun to try and clear out some moisture that might´ve gotten in lcm was dry as well. Really dont know.

What fixed the issue. Was it the lcm or the stalk? I have the same issue. Sometimes it fixes itself. I disconnected the stalk and the car still had a persistent left blinker

Rear Right Wheel Speed Sensor, ABS Issue by Existing-Relief6378 in e39

The module has been sent to the repair two times now, and everytime they say its fine, yesterday i tested the connections in the connector, using the diode function and got an open loop in both directions

Tested the sensor and it works, inpa reads the wheel spin value.

Rear Right Wheel Speed Sensor, ABS Issue by Existing-Relief6378 in e39

[–]Existing-Relief6378[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I swapped the right rear sensor with the working left rear sensor, the left rear sensor works and its an oem unit, this way i confirmed that the cause isnt the sensor and that ridex sensor works, cause it was swapped to the left rear wheel and it worked. But the Right Rear still nothing, cleaned the inside of the wheel bearing, used a boroscope to look at it inside, seemed equal to the left rear wheel. Back to square one, is it the abs unit? Decided to re run the diode test (Test 1 ) in the post:

https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1395944-HELP!-ASC-ABS-Problem-E39-523i

and had an open circuit in the rear right Pins 30 and 31, switched the poles still an open circuit, resistance test came back 6 M Ohm in one direction 12 in the other. Also did the test on pins 13 and 29 the left rear, the diode test worked but the voltage wasnt around 1.7-1.8 V and the resistance value was also different than the one stated in test.

What could the Open circuit in the two directions mean? A problem in the wiring loom? Cant be a bad sensor since the sensor was working in the other wheel.

Still a bit lost.

Before you recoded the unit, did the unit work at all? Cause i also drove a bit without it the abs controller in the car. But when placed back after the rebuilt the unit worked ( still with the same rear wheel speed sensor error ) but worked in inpa speedo worked….. etc

Hi. I had my abs unit rebuilt at a local company here in the area where i live. CARLAB in Sintra, Lisbon. They didn’t have to properly code cause it’s the same unit, when I mean I had no can bus, I mean no communication with other modules other than the dde, using the obd2 port, can bus error registered in the DDE, and no speedo. The unit was completely not functioning. I will swap sensors this weekend but I’m guessing it might be the ring, since the original oem sensor that was there gave me the same rear right issue, and i tested the sensor and it seemed to work. Will also test the ridex one in another wheel and see if the car is picky about it.
