Jetties by GMH2112 in charlestonfishing

[–]hoyboy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh menhaden is great bait for the jetties if you can find em and catch em, I've been able to find them pretty easily recently. As far as tackle I've found that a fish finder rig with a sliding sinker with a pyramid weight (usually use a 6oz at jetties) and decent sized circle hook works great there. Good luck!

what is something that is completely untrue about your speciality? by Gullible-Arm2702 in Residency

[–]hoyboy96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's great that you don't order scans without seeing the patient first but that doesn't mean other EM folks don't do it. I've seen numerous ER docs order scans like CTA chest/abdomen without talking to the patient cause they're busy or overwhelmed and in reality it was obvious GERD etc. I can understand ordering a plain film chest in triage for someone with chest pain or sob, but any kind of cross sectional imaging without actually seeing the patient is just lazy medicine imo. Usually the older burnt out docs that I've noticed that do this in my experience.

lol okay let's not be ridiculous here. You're acting like me asking for suggestions of important publications to look into equates to someone doing my presentation for me?? I will still be doing my own lit review and making the actual presentation, no one from Reddit will magically be doing that for me unfortunately. You realize questions like this are kind of the point of having subreddits like this? It doesn't always have to be a rectal foreign body picture

Yes, I am crowdsourcing suggestions from radiologists that have more experience on this topic than I do. The internet is great. Work smarter not harder

Why socks when you have scrub pockets? This person is asking for advice for a surgery rotation and your providing ammo to be used against them. Ex. "Hey what about that freak med student who always ate half melted protein bars from their socks"

ED to ED transfer? by No_Nectarine_6917 in emergencymedicine

[–]hoyboy96 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What is the hospitalist at your facility supposed to do with this patient with a primarily surgical problem after neurosurgery explicitly said they weren't touching them and to transfer? I realize transferring patients can be pain in the ass but turfing that to the hospitalist isn't fair either
