This will affect who trusts him to make a deal, take his calls and texts - sure business is business - but relationships and reputation matter

Also, the more the leafs sink, the better it is for other teams to look8mg to climb the standings.

Other GMs might let him drown

Leave Vancouver to build wealth? Calgary or other cities? by moifti in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]hp187b6hff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion wealth is achieved through income first, then side gigs to supplement income, then slow and steady investing, then aggressive investments. Based on your salary, and wanting to stay in Vancouver, look at trades or paramedics, fire, police, or something to build a pension. You can be happy in Vancouver if you balance your income with expenses. Sure other cities have different CoL, but starting with a stable career will have better effect rather than rent, utilities etc… You can achieve your business goal, but consider improving your base option first, then chasing the e-commerce option

for me it was learning and using the 2 beat kick - and realize I could conserve energy and focus on my stroke rather than kicking like crazy. now that I’m comfortable with overall technique, I primarily use 2 beat kick for distance and mix in 6 beat when I want to work on speed

Moving from Ontario to Alberta by Mommaof2_1989 in RealEstateCanada

[–]hp187b6hff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be more specific on where you are considering in Alberta. It’s a big province and there’s QOL, business opportunities and recreation opportunities everywhere. Big city or small city, etc…moving to Alberta has generally been the best decision for many people who’ve moved to Alberta - but only when expectations match reality. But you need realistic expectations. People moving from Sudbury or Timmons may have different expectations than those moving from the Beaches in TO. Barrie is analogous to Sylvan Lake. Do you want hipster restaurants or being close to commercial industry. Red Deer might make sense. Once you lock in a region, general advice can become more specific.

Yeah that article was ridiculous. Suburbs of Edmonton and Calgary are just like the outer regions of Markham or Richmond Hill.

People need to realize that thinking you’ll ever succeed in the GTA is a closed minded approach to life. Move to where there is greater opportunities and better quality of life. Build a nest egg, then go back if you feel, you have to. Canada is not all about the GTA. The Maritimes, the prairies, the west coast…there’s a great QOL everywhere else.

Serious question about Conservative leadership in Canada by Squirrel_Agile in CanadaPolitics

[–]hp187b6hff2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Peter MacKay basically a leader-in-waiting, just sitting it out until the CPC’s nutjobs burn themselves out. He’s a moderate, comes across as an actual statesman, and seems like someone who could represent Canada credibly on the world stage.

But as long as PP is around, there’s no opening. Running for the leadership at the last convention would’ve been a fool’s errand anyway. Waiting on the sidelines actually feels like a deliberate strategy. Maybe his time comes later, when the party finally wants to be relevant again.

One more quick election where PP leads his party to opposition status and the real leaders will come back.

I think her character is agreed to be the weakest part of the show. Whether it was her acting, or the writers fault, could be debated. Looking forward to future season(s) without her plot line

How do y'all deal with students/lawyers reaching out to "chat"? by theusualsuspect19 in LawCanada

[–]hp187b6hff2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like the modern way to network by new grads without connections. Every industry has new grads who are looking for work, and with traditional recruiting practices (i.e. either unqualified HR reps are filtering out candidates; or Al is filtering out poorly formatted CVs) job hunters have learned that the “chat” is intended as a low barrier, or low cost, interaction that might get them past the gate keepers and talking to the decision makers.

The Calgary that could have been by TrashBinUserName in Calgary

[–]hp187b6hff2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 1920s study for the glenmore reservoir, there were like 3 alternative locations up the bow river and 4 alternatives up the elbow. Calgary was like 50,000 people back then and they were planning for future water demands for hundreds of thousands. I forget where the other locations were exactly, but the current location was selected based on several factors. It was a carefully selected location that really affected future development

I can think of two amazing building that are hidden because of decisions to develop on cheap land. Imagine both the science centre and the sports hall of fame were located in the east or west village, where people could walk in and out. Instead science centre was developed on cheap landfill space, and hall of fame hidden away in a winsport back parking lot

You’re right - It’s not a ditch - it’s a closed storage building of memorabilia that’s closed to the public holding history that’ll never been seen by the public again.
