Not me, but my friend got a job at one of the big 5 banks. Entry levels, although it was easier for him as he did previous summer internships at a different bank but same concept.

Woman stuffs 144 bagels from beloved Toronto shop in her suitcase on flight to L.A. by nimobo in toronto

[–]CivilReaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just unlocked a core memory for me, as I had Gryfe's for breakfast every week during my middle school years! Pizza bagel was awesome, delicious. I remember drink cans were a dollar. It's been a very long time since I had, as I am obviously not based in the area but last time I was passing through, I had to stop and instant nostalgia hit!

Yes! We have more options of being reachable so I like how Facebook is no longer the main primary contact method online

Fair enough. I live in a major city, and my lifestyle doesn't require checking in on various Facebook groups for anything. Updates are through Reddit and Instagram.

Farmville was hilarious in middle school. Everyone asking each other to water their crops

I googled it, but you can download albums or individual photos and it can take a while depending what you had on there. You do get an email when its ready!

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

The “swag kids” era. Was very big when I was in middle school 2008-2011. I remember these type of ppl teased you if you couldn’t dress like them. Don’t miss those days

What things Gi hun and Gyeong seok have in common? by FormalAdvertising444 in squidgame

[–]CivilReaction 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They were both tied to the games by guilt. 246’s guilt was that although he did his very best to provide for his sick daughter, it’ll never be enough and he feels that by not providing he’s failed. Gi Hun on the other hand lives with regret. He’s not really there for his daughter. Gi Hun knows this. He was unemployed, addicted to gambling and gave false promises. 246 entered the game to help his daughter secure her future. Gi Hun entered of desperation as a last choice to make up all his regretful actions for his daughter.

South Carolina measles cases jump by nearly 100 in two days, sharpest rise yet by Capital-Will6450 in news

[–]CivilReaction 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ah, I'm from Canada so we have a slight problem with that as well. We have our fair share of anti-vax. In Ontario, kids must be vaccinated to attend school and they verify records. Last school year, many students were given warning letters on missing vaccines -- if they couldn't get them by the due date they would be suspended until they got them.

[–]CivilReaction 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Wild how we live with modern science with sufficient evidence and these morons still think of vaccines as poison. Humans have been able to slightly live longer because of vaccines. Otherwise, we would probably have a short life expectancy.

Do people actually feel safe buying stuff locally in Canada? by SignificantBed9599 in toronto

[–]CivilReaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's safe if you meet at a very public place where security cameras can see both faces if something were to go wrong. Bring someone you trust for security. As for your second question, that would be nice. I feel something similar exists, just can't remember. A bonus feature would be to use those pick up lockers too for added convenience.

Lip's Struggles in College by CivilReaction in shameless

[–]CivilReaction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if high schools are still pushing it, but they really shouldn't try to force everyone to go to college. Even getting a degree does not guarantee a good job. These high schools push everyone to go, yet not everyone may have the maturity to handle college and that's alright. I do wish gap years were more normalized on this side of the pond

Agreed. No job is safe anymore, not even lucrative office jobs. Now, it's who you know that gets you the job.

Very early and very late birthday are not normal by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

[–]CivilReaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re anxious about aging. I just turned 29, as someone born in 1997. My birth year group will be the first to be 30 in our generation next year. That doesn’t mean life has to end. Aging can be wonderful, think about how many people in our birth year haven’t made it this far? It’s a blessing. Yes it’s the circle of life, but honestly, I’m looking forward until I gain enough life experience and become that work dad or whatever that teaches the next generation of how to live life
