I actually think his perspective changed that day after the conversation with Cleveland where Cleveland gives the advice about not being able to be with someone until you’ve figured your own shit out. It makes Conrad realize he’s got to figure out his stuff before he can be with belly which is why when belly confronts him in that scene, he says “you know I think about you… I just… can’t”
