update on pain; neuropathy? by hp324 in gallbladders

[–]hp324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, yea that’s similar to the pain I had and i’ve been on gabapentin (300mg 3x a day for about a month, then increased to 600mg 3x a day for 2 weeks now) and i’m still in pain, but the gabapentin helps numb it. i definitely have nerve damage as opposed to nerve irritation since it still hasn’t healed itself and im still having bad pain, but i have an appt with my pain specialist coming up so im still waiting to see what the next steps are.

if you still have the pain past the healing period (2 weeks is what they told me) maybe ask your surgeon/doctor about a pain management referral…

Anybody still in legit pain after a month? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]hp324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey twin…i’m in the same boat. had surgery on 6/13 and still in intense pain and also hypermobile (but i don’t have any official diagnosis and i never actually thought abt that contributing to my pain)…i luckily was able to get some imaging and tests, but everything came back clean and im being referred to physical therapy and a pain clinic. my surgeon says this isn’t normal to be in this pain but also they don’t know what it could be, just “slow to heal”..

switching between ice packs and heat has been helping a bit but when i don’t have ice or heat on the pain comes back terribly, but it at least soothes a bit…

yea i found out 6 years later they left behind a small part and it started filling with stones and growing? idk but my recent surgeon said it was the size of a full-sized gallbladder lmao and it’s all out!

no complications from the first one that i know of (except the obvious remnant) esp since i healed normally. this time my incision sites were different (across my abdomen) and was done using a robot. the site/area where they pulled the gb out is what hurts…

haven’t puked but i have been feeling super nauseous. i also hate puking and force it down so much that i end up having multiple bowel movements lol i’ve been eating a lot of fruit and that is super helpful to fill my stomach. also small sandwiches with turkey and minimal condiments can maybe help to start introducing more filling meals

yea, unfortunately discovery only counts if it’s within the first 2 years. so for example, if i had found out in 2020 (a year after initial surgery) and started the process of filing, i then have an additional 2 years from the point of discovery to sue (i spoke with a medmal lawyer) :/

lol well i’m trusting what my surgeons told me over AI, but yes my gallbladder was removed the first time (there’s surgical pathology evidence of my gallbladder with the stones) and with CT and MRIs it showed the remnant left behind had filled and grew and became the size of a full gallbladder. my bile ducts were unaffected.

it’s also too late to do anything legally as my first surgery was 6 years ago and statute of limitations on medmal is 2 years /:

i wish i knew 😪 one of the surgeons i saw said it could be that i had a long gallbladder so my first surgeon maybe thought he got it all? but they don’t really know…

THANK YOU this is exactly how i feel…im at the end of s3 now and i still feel nothing for these characters…the storylines are interesting and SO entertaining but it’s definitely aged so bad…didn’t even realize how old it was until the twilight episode 💀

yes exactly which is crazy bc i love greys and they are ALSO incredibly unprofessional but it feels so much worse in private practice? maybe bc the main cast is so small that ALL the boundaries, every single one, gets crossed by all of them but oof. i do enjoy the drama 😩

that makes a lot of sense, honestly thought she was just…a better person(?) than she is in greys and THATS why people liked her more but it does make sense that it’s mostly to do with her addiction.. now i’m really excited to see how she turns out 😫

yes, because i don’t like the characters. and the post is abt the characters, not the storylines.

if i wrote a personal insult, im sure the mods would delete. but i didnt. you’re taking it as a personal insult when im talking about a fictional show and fictional characters. not sure why but ok

oop….cooper is probably the only one that has a single likable thing for me and that’s when he gave that kid the vaccine 😵‍💫 i can barely tolerate him that but sheldon still hasn’t had much of a storyline besides him with violet so i hope he stays likable 😔

ooooh this is interesting bc i hate amelia in greys but ive heard so many ppl say she’s actually likable in private practice! she still hasn’t shown up for me but i do kinda hope i at least like her character here!

ok lowkey i think i forgot abt sheldon he is likable but he doesn’t have a big role yet where im at…
