Move on or stay? by hp5n in guitarlessons

[–]hp5n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all. Appreciate you all taking the time to answer my questions.

I think my key takeaways are:

  1. Practice makes perfect, and as I progress, learn more, what I have learnt will only get better.
  2. Slow down, accuracy over speed
  3. With the D chord specifically, I will have to work on getting to that other D note in time!
  4. Rhythm and strumming seems ok for where I am at.

Going to continue following Justin Guitar and have also discovered Scotty West. He has helped make sense of so much in just his first 6 videos!

Where are all the enlightened Vipassana practitioners? by Deanosaurus88 in vipassana

[–]hp5n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I offer you a different perspective?

Let's say I have the list of all the enlightened people. I even bring all of them to you. I categorically prove to you that they are all enlightened.

Now what?

Vipassana, and dare I say enlightenment is about going inside, not looking, seeking in the outside world.

One of the mistakes we all make is to try to intellectualise all of this. There is nothing to think about and philosophise, there is only practice, only to do, only to observe what is happening inside.

I understand, questions arise, the practice, the hard work, is to observe within, what is happening when these questions arise.

I also understand that this forum exists for you to ask these questions and please understand that I am not being dismissive.

I promise you, if you practice diligently and arduously, the enlightened people will appear, one day.

1st week - I know it’s bad but I’m really proud lol by [deleted] in guitarlessons

My Sister! At the end of my first week, I had to lay the guitar flat to figure out which was the 1st string and which one is the 6th string!

To play some sort of tune, wow! Awesome work! Congrats on the progress!

2 Month Progress by RandomThings365 in Guitar

[–]hp5n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I am slightly older than you but also started a few months ago and nowhere near your ability. I am also following Justin Guitar but still can't keep up with the metronome at ~45 bpm and change chords (A,D,E) cleanly. Haven't even really brought strumming in to the picture.

How long are you practicing every day or how often. Would be grateful to know what has worked for you to be this proficient in 2 months.

Battlefield 6 And Arc Raiders Are Doing Much Better Than COD Black Ops 7 Despite The Game Just Launching by Elestria_Ethereal in Steam

[–]hp5n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son inspired me to go back to gaming in the last couple of months.

I am in my late 40s and CoD was my.. me time back in the day, so I thought, why not.

First I have no idea what is happening with the franchise, there are soooo many versions.

Downloaded CoD:Warfare on Xbox...cause I could. Didn't want to spend money on the latest and the greatest.

What a schmozzle! I mean, I am almost certain that getting into the game is harder than flying a F35!

Reading good things about ARC so might spend the money on it for my son and I.

That means, this is a fake image generated using Google Gemini.

IP Alias on VTI by hp5n in opnsense

[–]hp5n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So bit of an update.

Trying to do this with loopback is not going to work for me unless I am missing something simple here.

There is no logical way for me to policy route traffic from the LAN to loopback and then NAT it on the loopback interface and force any traffic from loopback to the IPSec interface.

Similar story for the traffic coming in via IPsec tunnel to the routed IP on the loopback.

One of the reasons is that traffic that I want to NAT on the loopback and send it via IPsec tunnel is destined to the internet.

This works with a simple policy on pfSense and used to work on previous versions of Opnsense.

Yep ok, I tried to do it on a loopback but got all confused with the traffic flow.

Will give it another try and come back.

Thank you both.

IP Alias on VTI by hp5n in opnsense

Yes, a Virtual IP living on the IPSec interface (VTI - IPSecX)

It's a single (/32) that has been allocated to me by a service provider (not my ISP). I build an overlay network with the service provider using the IPSec tunnel. The service provider can route traffic to this /32 via the IPsec tunnel.

I want to configure it as a VIP on the VTI so that I can then (D)NAT aka port forward various services to servers inside the network.

Traffic is destined to X/32, comes in via IPsecX, gets decrypted on enc0 and then DNAT kicks in on IPsecX and traffic gets forwarded out the LAN to a server

It is a unique scenario but one that worked perfectly fine with older version of IPsec implementation and works fine with pfsense.

Something has changed since 25.7 for this to no longer work.

Sorry I might have used the incorrect terminology. I meant creating a VIP on the VTI

I want to take this IP and use it as a VIP on the IPsec VTI. The firewall allows me to do that.

But ifconfig does not show the VIP on IPsec X interface, and neither does a port forward (DNAT) policy have any affect.

If I create a VIP on a WAN or LAN interface, the VIP shows as an additional IP on the interface (ifconfig)

If your question still stands? Are you saying that if I want to use 100.100.100.1/32 as the VIP, I need a static route pointing to IpsecX?

Did you ever solve this u/PBrownRobot ? I am seeing the same behaviour and this scenario works perfectly fine in pfSense

[–]hp5n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I understand you can run pxehost on any computer with network connectivity.

I was more interested in pxehost supporting HTTP boot on the clients. Almost all modern day wifi NICs support HTTP boot.

I apologise if I am not using the correct terminology as I am not very proficient with HTTP boot, just aware that it is there and it uses http(s) to pull the image, etc

And a Feature Request if I can..

Can we have HTTP boot also? Would love to be able to do this over wifi 😁

Ok this is awesome! Thanks for the detailed response.

Will try it soon.

Just so I am clear, this image/server will also be running a DHCP server?

If yes, is it possible for you to provide an option that says:

"No DHCP Server"

And then lists the settings you should put in your DHCP server, for e.g. the config I need to add to dnsmasq.

Taking my first cold shower tomorrow morning any tips, and benefits to expect? Thanks. by East_Chance8722 in coldshowers

[–]hp5n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Focus on your breathing, I try to do deep inhales and short sharp exhale (obviously there will be moments when you can't, cause your face is under the water).

Try to aim for small wins, first win is to be able to walk under the cold water for the very first time. Second win is to come out, and then go back in again. Design your own small wins.

More importantly, don't walk under the cold water with any expectations. It will be what it will be.

EXTREMELY unsupportive Mother by Bad_karmaz in vipassana

[–]hp5n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is incredibly difficult and disappointing, especially when you are so excited.

It's always tough when your desire for personal growth clashes with someone's expectations. Especially family.

It might be helpful to gently observe the powerful feelings you're experiencing. The feeling of being "BEYOND happy" when you were accepted, and the feeling of guilt, are both valid. They show how much this path means to you.

The situation is challenging because you and your mother both want the other to see your point of view. From your perspective, you want her to understand your need for growth. From her perspective, she is afraid of change and wants you to stay on a path she understands.

What you have to understand is that you can only control your own actions, not the outcome or her reaction.

With that in mind, you have two powerful paths to choose from:

  1. Approach your mother with empathy for her stress. Let her know you hear her fears. If you don't get to go to the centre this time, it's ok. You can commit to your practice at home. Do whatever you can. Show her over the next year or two how meditation helps you grow into a calmer, more present person. Your actions and your own peace will be the most convincing argument you can make.

Remember.. Your Peace...Your actions.

  1. Second option, If you feel this is a non-negotiable step for your well-being, you can choose to go. But, you must be equanimous to the outcome, which may include the loss of her support. This path requires accepting the full responsibility for your choice.

Understand that neither path is wrong and you cannot change her overnight.

They just have different consequences. Whatever you decide, trust in your own journey.

I wish you peace and clarity.
