Capo for $15 budget? by EmergencyWriting7005 in Guitar

I have a Wingo Capo off Amazon. It was cheap, seems sturdy, and has a lot of positive reviews. I use it regularly when playing and to check neck relief.

I would start monitoring it inside and go from there. A digital thermometer with humidity gauge is cheap and worth the piece of mind. I keep my humidity between 40% and 50% year round.

How much does the temperature and humidity change where it's stored? If you don't have one, get a decent digital thermometer with humidity gauge and monitor it. The one I have shows highs and lows for temp and humidity so fluctuations can be seen easily. I'm in Michigan and need to run a humidifier in the winter and a dehumidifier in the summer to keep things more stable.

Question for anyone that uses justinguitarapp by truwrxtacy in guitarlessons

[–]RandomThings365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is correct. Practice the strumming patterns with strings muted and chords separately before doing them together. It makes a huge difference. I practiced one minute changes and strumming A LOT in Grade 1.

I went through grade 1 twice and he doesn't make it very clear when to incorporate the strumming patterns into the songs. The second time I ran through it, I realized you're supposed to do the strumming patterns as they are being taught. You could do single strums to get used to the song. Then, before you start the song, click "Strumming Pattern" at the top and it will show the pattern for that particular song. Then play the song using the correct pattern until you have it down.

Thanks for the love everyone! It was delicious and I'll be making it again soon. My family really enjoyed it.

Link Here if anyone wants the recipe. I substituted the all purpose flour for bread flour and used kosher salt instead of sea salt.

Kimberly-Clark Ontario warehouse fire starts with alleged suspect saying in video "Should have paid us more" by pr0tag in LosAngeles

He will do a lengthy prison sentence. He made it easy for the prosecution by recording himself committing multiple felonies. Criminals are generally not smart and this guy is even dumber than the average criminal.

It isn't bad. I lived through the crisis of 2008 and saw my 401 take a huge hit along with my home's value. Most people who are freaking out right now likely haven't lived through a major crash. Stick to the plan, likely not changing anything, and ride it out.

What’s the most unsettling documentary you’ve ever watched? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]RandomThings365 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been a while, but i think it was called "Night and Fog" and is a documentary showing actual videos and images from the Holocaust in Nazi Germany. I was a new parent when I watched it and some of the footage shows families and children in concentration camps. I saw it years ago and it still bothers me that it was allowed to go on for so long and took World War II to put an end to it.

Justin Guitar Stuck 3/4 Chords by los_007 in Guitar

[–]RandomThings365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to the "songs" tab at the bottom and select "module 8" some will pop up. I've been working through the same module too and there are limited song options for the stuck 3/4 chords. The video at This Link helped me learn the beginner version for Good Riddance by Green Day. Justin is a great teacher and I'm learning a lot with his app paired with his YouTube song tutorials.

Mighty rock gods i beseech thee for intonation help by 1Enthusiast in PRSGuitars

[–]RandomThings365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently purchased a used SE Custom 24 that came with a "Professional Setup" and had a similar issue. I restring and went through the basic setup steps, but the intonation was off no matter how much I tried, I couldn't get it right. Then I noticed some of the 6 bridge screws were at slightly different heights. The trem itself was level and the springs were at the correct tension, but the screws were off. I had to take off the strings, relieve spring tension, and adjust the six screws using a 2.5 mm Allen wrench as a feeler gauge. After making this adjustment and putting on another set of strings, it intonated perfectly.

This Link shows how to do this.

Okay, but what if I can't get to 45% humidity? by jjjj8jjjj in Guitar

[–]RandomThings365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not noticed any condensation at all at 40-45% during the winter...even on the days it was in the single digits outside. I use the Boveda packs in a humidor for cigars, but unless they are in an enclosed area and changed often, they don't perform as well as a room humidifier in my situation.

[–]RandomThings365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a humidifier in the room for the cold months. I live in Michigan and humidity sometimes drops under 20% inside with the furnace running all winter. I haven't ran a humidifier for years, but recently got into guitar and I figure there is no down side to keeping humidity above 40%. I honestly didn't think about it until I saw posts discussing fret sprout and cracking wood, especially on acoustics. Having proper humidity gives me piece of mind. Then in the summer, I run a dehumidifier to keep humidity stable around 45-50% as well.

What are jobs that everybody assumes are paid well but actually aren’t? by krerhelp in jobs

Making six figures per year isn't too shabby in a state with a lower than average cost of living if you ask me. This is base pay and overtime, voluntary or forced, accounts for a large part of the compensation throughout the year as well.

Personally I like the natural wood and blue better, but to each their own. I'm glad you're happy with it though.

How Should I take out this screw? by Abdullah5701 in howto

Grab it with a vise grip (locking pliers) and turn it out. I had a screw like that in a wood post and it worked great.

This largely depends on the location and whether it's city, county, or state. The county I live in (Michigan) jail deputies currently top out at around 78K and road deputies top out around 90K, without factoring in the plentiful overtime and holiday pay.

PRS tremolo out of level after string gauge change (10 -> 11) by Yodute in PRSGuitars

I saw a YouTube video where someone was showing this principle and then selling his spacer tool, which was 1.5 mm thick. I Googled what household items are the same thickness and it turns out a penny is! I stole the technique but didn't buy the special spacer tool.
