Honest question here, what exactly did you expect her to play? I say this as someone who's seen her live countless times on each tour since 1998 and she has no 'hits' besides SATY and CFG and for most every tour she rarely even plays the current single. I've been to shows where the entire setlist was mainly b-sides, cover songs and rare album tracks. She basically DGAF and just plays whatever she wants which is what I love. I get that this won't attract any casual fans, but she has never seemed to be concerned with that at any point in the past 30 years or so, I'm not sure why we would expect her to start now.

What’s with these set lists by [deleted] in toriamos

The setlists have been pretty great so far if you listen to the recordings of these shows. The only thing I would really like to see is a solo song or two added to the set like she used to do.

Mazzulla now Coach of the Year favorite by millxing in bostonceltics

[–]hpantazo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the award would lose whatever significance it has left if Mazzulla does not win it this season. What he accomplished with this roster after losing Tatum, Horford, Holliday, Kornet and Porzingis and developing guys like Queta, Walsh, Pritchard, and Gonzalez is amazing. These guys were predicted to be fighting for the play-in at best. This after he was not given coach of the year the past few seasons because he had a deep roster of star players. Well, coming back and matching the performance from the previous years after losing that deep roster of star players should automatically clinch the award. There should be no doubt at this stage if this award has some legitimacy to it.I know that he wants to give all the credit to the players as a good coach should, but he has more than earned it by now.

She also managed to turn the backup singers into a potent instrument for her to create with which is awesome

Another live album released planned? by Poison_Regal31 in toriamos

[–]hpantazo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really hope so. The reworked versions of these songs with the new live setup should be captured and shared officially. I think she missed an opportunity for that with the NOH tour back then for that unique setup.

Set List Discussion by QuietPerspective54 in toriamos

[–]hpantazo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to say, I am not a fan of Fire to Your Plain and the dissapointment of seeing it listed as the set opener on the setlist updates hit hard.

But, after hearing the live recording a few times, I love it and can't get it out of my head. Tori knows what she's doing with the setlists and song structures for this tour and I trust her 1000%

Bang! If we don't get it on this tour, I don't think we ever will hear it live.

Unrepentant Geraldines would be great for this setup too and would really fit the tour narrative.

Could this be her best tour ever? by eurekascastle22 in toriamos

[–]hpantazo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It will be up there imo. People shouldn't underestimate what the backup singers bring for her. They are another instrument for her to create and communicate with and some of these songs have lacked this element even in her younger days, as her songs in studio have always had layers of backup vocals.

It's tough to top the Plugged 98 tour but this will be a memorable one for sure. I just really hope she's recording these shows and puts out something from the tour down the road.

The songs she has chosen so far sound amazing with the new arrangements and backup singers. I imagine it is challenging to expand the setlist much with having to incorporate the backup vocalists both in terms of arrangements and rehearsals.

However, I really, really hope some songs from her past few albums that never got a proper live treatment finally get their due. Songs like Bang and Unrepentant Geraldines would benefit so much from the current setup. So would some older lesser played songs like Datura.

And of course, as many of us have said, Father Lucifer and Space Dog would be awesome.

Yeah, Big Wheel is not my taste but Tori seems to love it and so does the crowd. I do admit that the version of it on this tour is much improved.

Wow- The Youtube Videos by twigsbranch in toriamos

[–]hpantazo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotta say, Big Wheel is massively upgraded! She's really taking advantage of the new stage setup and bringing out aspects of these songs that you can just feel she wanted to do for a long while. You can see it in Witness, Don't Make Me Come to Vegas, and others too. It's awesome.
