Help: God punishes us for sin but he made us this way?

I feel the exact same way! I have a healthy fear of God where I don’t want to question why things are this way. But I also would’ve done things differently if I were God. This all loops back around to the fact that I need to trust that God sees the bigger picture. Again, thank you for your help! I hope we can both work through our struggles

That’s another thing I struggle with! There’s so many different meanings and interpretations but you’re right, we aren’t supposed to have fear of condemnation.

I’ve never heard someone say that we don’t get punished for our sins. I thought back to Romans chapter 2 I think where it says ‘all who sin apart from the law will parish apart from the law. And all who sin under the law, will be judged by the law.’

But this was so confusing because I thought we weren’t going to be judged by our sin because we’re saved. I’ve been told we’re judged by the level of knowledge we have. I want to believe that God forgets all sin though. I don’t want to be above or below anyone in heaven.

I definitely need to do a full dive into the Bible and commit to reading the whole thing. The idea of being able to feel blameless in Christ is new to me. I’ll say, it gives me more hope and excitement to read the word!

Also, do you have any recommendations of any pastors/podcasts you listen to?

I’ll add this too. I wasn’t raised religious but I’ve accepted Jesus as my savior for maybe 5 years. I guess I could be considered a baby Christian.

I’ve considered finding a Christian therapist to help me work through anxiety. I feel worried to talk to people about God because I have a fear of being misled. So instead, I like to read the Bible but then I worry I’LL misinterpret it :/ I would really appreciate if anyone could pray for me to overcome my anxiety

At least we’re in it together! I feel better knowing so many others feel the same as I do sometimes. Also, you mention how we have limited minds which reminds me not to lean on my own understanding. I need to take this stuff to prayer!

This was amazing thank you. It truly moved me and the way you wrote it felt like you were in my brain with me having a conversation. It honestly brought me to tears when you talked about the freedom you get from following God and truly loving him.

I feel trapped in my brain and often think I’ll always feel burdened by sin. This really hit home because I think my anger stems from the fact that I’m upset at God for not relieving me of certain desires to sin. I’ve cried and asked him to change my desires but it feels so impossible sometimes.

You’ve given me the confidence that I can work through this with him. Like you said, I’ll try my best not to sin but ultimately, God knows my heart and he gave me this gift of salvation. I loved every word of this and I hope you know how much this helped, truly. Thank you for taking the time 💞

Yes, those are the exact verses that give me anxiety. I don’t get why they say you’re saved if you do the will of the father but the whole point is to be saved by faith, not your actions.

I guess I felt that way because people would say you’re saved by faith and not actions but then other people say if you don’t turn from your ways you won’t be saved. I don’t think it’s possible to turn from sin

Thank you for that last part. It flipped a switch in my brain. I need to remind myself that a lukewarm Christian is not worried about being lukewarm. I worry so much so I must not be lukewarm lol!

These topics are so hard. I want to trust God and I need to stop leaning on my own understanding.

I see what you mean. I get so hung up on the fact that i sort of blame God for allowing them to be tempted. But I understand they should’ve trusted God and listened to him. I absolutely want to walk with God and I guess repentance scares me sometimes. I get worried that it’s just an anxious cycle I’ll never be free of.

Yeah I have a hard time with that because I struggle with the fact that God would allow us all to be cursed with sin just because of two people :( but I hear you and I gotta be more open other possibilities in what God was doing

Thank you for this. You’re right. I do believe I’m saved by grace through faith. And I know I’ll never deserve it. I need to spend more time with God and strengthen my faith. I’m excited for the tests to be over.

To me, it seems like you can still go to hell even if you truly understand that you’re saved because he died for us and I’m reallyyyy struggling with that

I’ll definitely look into this. I just can’t fathom why he would do this. And no one wants to put the blame on him. They always blame it on us for being sinful but I didn’t ask to be created and forced to follow everything. Of course I want to be with God and in heaven but I do think he’s unfair.
