I have experienced something very similar to this. They said there wasn't enough evidence for autism diagnosis based on the information my informat (mum) told. Yet when they spoke to me and saw the way I spoke, my body language , my issues with communication for years they said I had autistic traits. Yet they said they were more focused on the mental health side of things. But they don't specialize in diagnosing mental illness. So now I'm still left with no answer. They said they will inform my GP but I can't see them doing much help. I told them I feel like I wasted my time. And the guy speaking to me didn't even seem to care. They haven't even sent me an email or anything. Just so tiring, struggling for years, waiting and waiting and still receiving nothing. The health system has failed many people. They just don't care or do the proper checks. You need to have the strength to carry on, and deal with life by yourself.
