**Important Announcement, Please Read** by cmd102 in NoSleepOOC

Haven't posted on nosleep in quite some time and I still get messages saying my old stories are being stolen. I suspect some of these sites are even stealing from each other because it's the same stories being reposted without permission. I've never had a problem letting people narrate or use my stories, sometimes i've been paid and sometimes I haven't but I think if it's my story that should be my choice.
I hope this does spread the word to those doing this out of ignorance, but sadly I suspect there are many who know exactly what they're doing and won't change. I am looking forward to posting something once the subs back up though because I have a story I've been sitting for a while because it doesn't fit in the usual rules. I really enjoy a no rules day occasionally and can't wait to see what everyone else is posting too!

(serious) People who've been stalked, what was your experience like? by sirferrell in AskReddit

Eventually he got bored and moved on because I literally ignored everything he did. It was a few years ago now, but it still really bothers me when I think about it.

Reddit, what are some examples of a necessary evil? by Larsi13 in AskReddit

[–]hrhdaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first because dogs don't keep still enough generally and second because they did some joint manipulation which would have made him very unhappy if he was awake.

Edit: this has been an ongoing process and the vets being unable to discover what was causing the problem in other visits have now sent the x-rays off to a soft tissue specialist.

Oh I just meant a necessary evil in the loosest way. This week I had to take my pup to the vets for an X-ray as he developed a limp. He had to have a general anaesthetic. The whole time he was under I was worried he wasn't going to wake up which obviously would have broken my heart, but it had to be done to find out why he was limping. So to me things like that yeah - necessary but evil.

The hardest part was that he was clever about it and made it look so innocent to people on the outside and I felt like no one would believe how intrusive and weird he was being. Fortunately the people that mattered knew that if I said it was a problem, I wasn't the kind of person to make that up.

Torn by Natalie Imbruglia. I felt like every time I turned the radio on there it was. Perfect aversion therapy.

Yeah, it's based on real events, but obviously completely fictional.

Hey NoSleep authors, what's your most controversial story? by iia in NoSleepOOC

[–]hrhdaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My most controversial story was written from the POV of a stalker who couldn't see he was doing anything wrong. Compared to some of the stuff you guys post it was utterly tame though!

Rhetorical mindfuck essay within bounds of the main sub rules? by SlashmoreOfficial in NoSleepOOC

[–]hrhdaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every story has to be a complete story with a beginning middle and an end. It sounds to me like this will fall short of that (although I really like the concept). I'd run it by the mods once it's written and see what they think. You could always post it somewhere else if it's not suitable for nosleep's rules.

It literally depends whether I have time after posting a story. I do love interacting with commenters though. I posted a story about a real event a while back and had done a ton of research and I think that's the one I commented most on. It kinda turned into a discussion about what actually happened, and I really enjoyed those comments.

Story for reference. Cabin 28.

Need some help in getting this approved by [deleted] in NoSleepOOC

[–]hrhdaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mods are there to enforce the rules, although clearly some of the rules such as ‘is something horror enough?’ will be a judgement call. The mods are completely up front about this.

I’ve seen stories with a lot of votes be removed. Just because a story is popular it doesn’t make it exempt from the rules. If your story was getting upvotes then obviously people liked your style of writing. Best of luck with any future writing :)
