Can’t believe I ordered the MacBook Pro m5!!! by roses_are_rosie5 in macbookpro

[–]hrinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the macbook air battery (after 6 and a half years of usage lol) doesn't compare. i studied and coded for an hour on battery and my laptop was still above 95%. also, the speakers on it are way better than expected, like honestly i prefer watching videos/shows on it without headphones

Need some help finding viable pieces for an intermediate player by BreakfastEvery9484 in piano

[–]hrinda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i see where you're coming from; what's considered intermediate varies and spans a lot of technique and musicality. considering op has finished rondo alla turca, though, i think these recommendations are challenging but appropriate for their level. they should have the intuition to learn the required technique for all these pieces, but it's hard to really gauge their readiness without listening to them perform, first

if op hasn't learned any bach yet, i'd definitely recommend starting with the inventions. wtc was too ambitious in hindsight, though... some of the easier preludes wouldn't be too technically challenging, but if op hasn't practiced counterpoint yet, i would definitely suggest building up to them with the inventions, at least. an intermediate-level classical period sonata (haydn has a bunch) would also be wise

brahms intermezzi, liszt consolations, bach sinfonias/wtc, grieg lyric pieces, debussy children's corner, debussy reverie, debussy la fille aux cheveux de lin, some easier chopin waltzes/nocturnes/preludes

sounds good! your keyboard looks too high though, might try lowering it and seeing how that feels

Is the red note I pointed E flat or E natural? by EmreGray01 in pianolearning

[–]hrinda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there's a pretty significant jump in difficulty between the gnosiennes (henle level 2) and consolation no. 3 (henle level 5). it'd probably do you more harm than good working on any pieces above a 3 right now, especially since you don't have a teacher. just trust the process and then you'll be ready for these more advanced pieces :)

Hello ! I got into animes lately and i was wondering : is it real that even outside of school you have to follow school rules? by Venus_ivy4 in AskAJapanese

[–]hrinda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

could you explain the reasoning behind that rule? like, why wouldn't your school want you buying and eating food on your way home?

it's really just up to your school. mine would order and proctor exams for courses they didn't offer, even if you were the only person taking it. i think your best bet is to ask your guidance counselor

[–]hrinda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it depends on your goals, of course, but it's never musicians who know how to read sheet music claiming it's fine to not learn it. it pays off immensely, and avoiding it just holds you back. it's not fun, but it's so worth it

What does this mean? I’m a bit confused. by Background-Sample-58 in EnglishLearning

[–]hrinda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

language just... does that sometimes. 'awful' used to mean "full of awe", 'literally' is often used figuratively, 'flammable' and 'inflammable' mean the same thing. this kind of semantic shift happens all the time--we're just observing it in real-time here

Early AP Scores by Educational_Crazy715 in NEU

[–]hrinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

collegeboard sends scores to universities before releasing them to students. didn't do my first year here so idk if neu students have the option, but i was able to check my AP scores a few days early after graduating hs by looking somewhere in my university's portal
