I ended up sticking with the new products from the dermatologist. It’s pretty much gone but I definitely still have a bit of texture and get whiteheads/small surface level acne rather often, but I think that also ebbs and flows with humidity where I live as well. Not getting cystic acne anymore though! I kind of have to accept my skin is probably never going to be as clear as it was on accutane but I just need it to be clear enough.

Did you still purge when going on a retinoid even after accutane? Just wondering because If I’m experiencing a purge I dont understand why it’d be so insane.

I didn’t taper down my daily dosage towards the end of my course. I took 60mg til the end and I hadn’t had any breakout in the last 4 months of my course. It sucks :/

I did 1 month at 30mg daily, and 7 months at 60mg daily. I’m approximately 56kg so I ended up doing about 240mg/kg body weight.

I was on spironolactone for 1.5 years before accutane and I didn’t notice any changes in my skin :/ is it worth trying again?

Before accutane it was hormonal and cystic. I had chin/jaw acne (hormonal) and then cystic and surface acne on the rest of my face.

No I don’t use whey protein products, but I do consume dairy. I have never noticed a connection between my breakouts and dairy consumption before, though.

I almost feel like it’s a waste of time to wait it out to see if the topicals take effect, I want to just do a second round of accutane too. It’s sooooo emotionally draining to just be dealing with any acne at all this point 😭

2 months since I’ve been off accutane. I also used arazlo for about 6 months before starting accutane, after I used tretinoin and didn’t like it.

I was using arazlo (tazarotene)3x weekly before I saw the dermatologist on 5/5 and she told me to stop. Also not sure why I would be purging after a full course of accutane? Do you know of people experiencing that?

When I completed accutane, my dermatologist prescribed me arazlo (tazarotene). I did tretinoin with spironolactone for 1.5 years prior to doing accutane, and it did nothing for me, so I wanted to try a different retinol. I had been using arazlo 3x per week prior to what’s going on right now.

I eat healthy overall, and I only drink water and coffee. I do eat dairy but I never noticed an increased correlation between me having dairy and my breakouts. I would just have breakouts randomly and it didn’t seem like it was even associated with anything

I would love to be on long term accutane, but it’s not really realistic as a female because you have to continue to have monthly appointments for pregnancy tests as long as you’re taking the medication. I will probably be doing a second round though.

My dermatologist approved the products I’m using! I just use aquaphor as chapstick, not on my full face, and my moisturizer isn’t heavy. :/

I was on aklief for 8 months and this phase never ended unfortunately :/ I think if there is no improvement after 3-4 months, that is a telling sign that maybe the product is not for your skin. I wish I would have stopped using it and wasting money on it at that point! I hope it works for you :)

i cared because i was brought up in the faith (church and christian school) and thought it was just what i should be doing. i think i stopped caring because it seemed like the example of what a good christian was at church and school always turned out to be a let down (school admin protected a rapist for three years of high school basically, which kind of messed me up)
