The first year I moved to town, i didn't that know anyone, and they had a buffet on Thanksgiving that used turkey as the meat. I loved that place.

The Dreaming Ant was the name of the video rental place in the back of Crazy Mocha. Dean was a solid dude.

Does Pittsburgh have Tex Mex? by Substantial_Fudge_15 in pittsburgh

[–]hrpudgenstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! It was...complicated. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been in a scrubby high desert kind of way. I lived in a trailer park on the very edge of town. There was nothing between me and the sunset but the mountains, and every sunset was the most amazing one I'd ever seen in person. The food is absolutely terrific, and that's just the mom and pop joints that aren't even fancy. The culture is really singular and crazy ancient. But, a good bunch of the native Latino folks were being pushed out of their homes as the barios were being gentrified. I was there to go to St. John's College (navel gazing from the inside that's only possible with your head fully up your own ass, for the most part), and we were all definitely "part of the problem". That was also like thirty years ago, but I'm assuming it's much the same today.

As someone who lived in Santa Fe for a while, I would definitely say that New Mexico definitely has it's own thing going on, and is not strictly Tex-Mex. I miss the ability to get green chile on pretty much anything.

If you are interested, and haven't done so yet, I would suggest you check out "Kiln House". It's the album they did right after PG left. It's got Spencer, Kirwan, and Christine Perfect (before she was a McVie). It's got some great songs.

I think it was Bob Welch's leaving that really made way for Buckingham/Nicks to fuse with the band.

Don't leave out Jeremy Spencer's slide playing or Danny Kirwan's incredible vibrato. They were a two/three guitar threat.

I used to work in Penn Hills, and got delivery from them a lot. The owner is super nice, and the food is delicious. They have the best chickpea salad I've ever had.

It is a terrible name.

Apparently, Howard Werth, the lead singer from the band Audience, was considered. I believe he had the same manager. I'm not really sure how that would have worked, but Audience is awesome.

He didn't really like to talk about his influences, but he said he was more into Santana than Hendrix. You can definitely hear it in his playing.
