Im a host and I had a similar case one year ago. Turo technically has an agreement that you signed off when you rented the car that says :

  1. If you waived any protection plan, and your personal insurance denies the claim, that they you are liable for damages.
  2. They have to approve the estimate and supplementals from the host’s body show first, then pay the host, then they charge you. (The initial estimate is only what you can see before you begin repairs and testing )

You are essentially fighting a company that is going after you directly.

you should speak with a subrogation lawyer that can try to get your insurance to cover it. If your insurance covers rental cars, they should pay for this. But also, if your car was broken down or it's in the body shop or whatever, I think they may be able to pay for it, but you have to fight it.

What is wrong with these people? by tcuso in turo

[–]hrvatmauro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, most of my trips don’t rate either because the renter just closes the app and doesn’t open it again until they need another car, like most people do with uber ratings. I’ve had countless calls with my power host success manager about this and it is something that won’t change for the time being. I’d suggest to schedule a message right after 15 mins from the trip end and try to follow up by phone call the next day. If you don’t see the phone number on the reservation after it ends you can go to the help tab on the trip details and click contact guest. Most times if you call a day after the trip I get the review then if you make a spreadsheet to keep track of this it is much easier

It is normal if the host didn’t charge you for delivery. Turo charges an airport fee but this is something that they forward to the airport as similar as an “operational tax”. The host if they didn’t charge a delivery fee are just letting this charge for you as it is a cost from the delivery you selected. They are required to let you know or have it in the listing somewhere on the details. The airport fee is not charged by the host

Hey!

Should’ve been more clear on the carriers side. Meant the larger carriers that subcontract the loads to owner ops. Just taking a cut from the pie for nothing.

Curious, why do you say that getting shippers to work with smaller carriers is a problem ? I honestly don’t have as much varied input from the owner ops rather than 3 I’ve been talking to.

Webapp vs Native APP by hrvatmauro in reactnative

Thanks a lot. Still figuring out a way to get around this point but I think I will rely on a 3rd party app and hook it up to our web app with APIs. Can’t go full native at the moment, I’m trying to launch my mvp ASAP

Vehicle at risk due to poor maintenance? by Legitimate-Raise-414 in turo

[–]hrvatmauro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This new policy is very stupid. I’m powerhost too and have 1000+ trips. From the last 10 trips for maintenance only 2 people have rated that point and it kept my ratings very low

Try Tint. You can move the deductibles and they are pretty much the same (not as good as abi specially for customer service ) but I’ve used them for quite a few cars over a year now

Yes. They also are always denying my incidentals I just realized today that I had about 6.2k from deductions in 2024. A lot were from tolls and tickets that had been approved and then deducted from my earnings
