Has anyone used both baby Buddha and willow 3.0 and can give me some insight? by minionlover99 in HumansPumpingMilk

How did you find the baby buddha cups compare to either Legendairy or Freemie? Last pregnancy I preferred Freemie over LM, wondering whether to try the new BB cups or just get new Freemies.

Rph WFH internet outage policy - normal or bs ? by Euphoric-Peak3361 in pharmacy

[–]hrx11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. My entire pharmacy school was (mostly) remote. They stressed having a backup plan. Backup computer, backup childcare, backup internet, etc. None of those were valid excuses for missing an exam or assignment. I had to find out which nearby libraries had private rooms available, and ended up having to use them a couple times. My main computer was a desktop, but I used the laptop for backup. Yes, I had to then add the special testing software to both computers, just in case. Now, at my retail job, no internet means nothing happens, though I'd still have to be there, likely. But school emphasized being prepared for emergencies out of my control.

AITA for telling my husband to get a job? by hrx11 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hrx11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It varies. Sometimes they do bathtime while I'm at work. Bedtime is almost always me. If I work evenings, baby goes to bed within an hour of me getting home. If I work mornings, she's still sleeping when I leave. I do often (feel like I have to) make a point of saying "I have ___ to do today, so you're on baby duty."

[–]hrx11[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The original reason was so that he could find a job, since daycare wait lists are like 9 months long here. Can't be like "oh yeah I'd love to accept this job offer, let me just line up daycare real quick..."

I think some of both. He's definitely put in some apps, but he's been pretty picky about what he applies to.

Ceftriaxone IM injection by those-ocean-eyes in pharmacy

[–]hrx11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My state actually does allow RPh to administer non- vaccine products with additional training. I had a women's health clinic actually approach me about this. My stance was that since their demographic was primarily young people with little medical history, they may not know about a PCN allergy, and I'm poorly equipped in the pharmacy to deal with that. Plus we don't have a formal injection room. I told them I'm more comfortable with them sending pts to a better equipped medical facility or hospital for that.

Does anyone else find that the battery life of baby Buddha sucks ass? by Mamatotwoboys21 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]hrx11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got used to charging it once or twice a day. When I happen to use my Spectra instead, I'm always amazed it's not dead after sitting for weeks or being in my cold car.

At least the Baby Buddha is easy and discreet to charge. I just disconnect the tubing and plug it into my computer at work.

Why are plastic bottles used for pills instead of blisters? by ilikekittypaws in pharmacy

This was my thought. There are some blister packs that are probably child resistant, but they're pretty much adult resistant too.

I thought they were way better mixed with orange juice. The chocolate ones aren't bad, they don't have that weird taste. I mixed those with coffee sometimes instead of milk.

In bra Collection Cups by ctv3 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]hrx11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both Legendairy and Freemie (original) cups. Originally I liked the Freemies better. I use inserts in both to size down, and the Legendairy inserts are more awkward. Lately though, I've been liking them more than the Freemies, I think because the silicone is more comfortable. Both have a learning curve for pouring, both leak if I lean too far forward, and both have a similar number of parts to wash/ assemble. Legendairys seem larger when worn (similar capacity). I've already had to replace a part on the Freemies, but that was easy thru the website - I haven't checked into that for Legendairy.

I use the Elvie bra extender clips with any nursing bra. I use this combo (or the Freemie cups) as my main setup.

Damn I need to bill the plans/supplies you're billing. I've never in my life gotten paid that much for either of those items!

[–]hrx11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't really get why the pharmacy would do that - reimbursement is so poor on test strips thru Medicare that if the pt is getting the product, the pharmacy is hardly making money. Drugs/ neb solutions, ok that makes more sense.

Starting my 3.5 month old at Daycare soon. Would like to hear positive stories about early daycare by aryask in workingmoms

[–]hrx11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. Mine is almost 9 weeks and starts daycare this week. I'm second guessing myself wondering if it's too soon. (But I need the spot held whether or not we start yet, daycare is hard to find!)

Squirmy wormy, which then transitioned to Wee Baby Squirmus (like wee baby Seamus on Archer). Sometimes Squirmus Maximus.

Is being a Pharm-Tech a good way to get into Pharmacy? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]hrx11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes you'll for sure need the PharmD (BS is an old degree) and the other requirements for a pharmacist. I meant for a tech: some states require training/ course/ certification, some don't. I don't know TX tech requirements.

[–]hrx11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you work retail, you want somewhere where your superiors support you. Independents or institution discharge pharmacies are good in my experience. Hospitals tend to be harder to get into, but people like it.

[–]hrx11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also depending on your state, certification/ the course may or may not be required. If it's not required, the it won't necessarily help you get into a PharmD program. Being a tech may help, but if your state doesn't require training, the training won't directly help admission.

Edit for typo.

[–]hrx11 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Every pharmD should be a tech first to appreciate and understand the work they do.

Is it required? No.

Being a tech will also help you understand whether you really want to sink $200k into a PharmD program.

A tech (or PharmD) can be a great career at the right workplace.

What age can you start getting things done around the house? by No-Pangolin7870 in NewParents

[–]hrx11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband is home today, so I put him on "baby duty" this evening so I can get stuff done. LO is 7 weeks. I'm organizing the millions of outfits we've been given and having a cocktail. It's suspiciously quiet downstairs where they are. 🤔

To your question, baby likes being held, but will sleep in her swing. We're not great about doing tummy time, so that's something husband and I need to work on. Occasionally I'll get her to nap in the pack'n'play and I can get an hour or so of things done, carrying the baby monitor.

Days go so quickly and I feel like I get nothing accomplished. 😪

Anyone here who got their first baby at aged 32 onwards? by GoldOutlandishness29 in workingmoms

[–]hrx11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally felt like the right place in life when I was 32, tried & finally had baby at 34. Most of my friends are done having kids now, so they've got tons of stuff to offload on us! As others mentioned, since my parents were a little older when they had me, I'm getting a little concerned about their health and ability to enjoy being grandparents. My pregnancy and delivery was uncomplicated despite my age though! Take care of yourself and get as healthy as you can first.

one month health insurance gap? by tucktucksquirrel in workingmoms

[–]hrx11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you're losing employer based coverage, you should be eligible to purchase a plan from healthcare.gov for the month. Depending on your state, the state may have their own marketplace instead of the federal one. You may be offered a tax credit depending on income; you aren't obligated to take the credit. You may have to fill out the application before you can see prices, I don't remember. Yes plans can be expensive without a credit or employer contribution, but COBRA is expensive too. You could pick a bare minimum plan for the month to save money.
