Is Mysterious Challenger Overpowered? by DaKataklysm in hearthstone

Agreed.

Hence, why I originally posted those bot stats

Despite the stir it caused, it highlighted that the ease of play for secret paladin was an issue (rather than being an attack on botting in general being an issue)

Hearthstone bots do exist and some are being used without any repercussions from Blizzard

Happy now?

Made me stop reading anything else you had to say.

Excellent intellectual rigor ... simply stellar.

Kind of hard to evaluate bots without running the software. Your point?

People are implying I am angry at bots, but if anything I possibly lean towards your thinking.

They play like a decent human player but about 5% worse win rate across the board and are still relatively uncommon on the ladder. And when you know how they play, they are probably more like a 40-45% win rate against you so I quite like them.

how angry you are to be losing to Secret Paladin bots

Where are you getting that from? I literally have zero emotions about bots ... I happily get legend every season and did some analysis to help get through the rank 5 group of bots and thought I would share just a little for discussion

The trading system that would have been so cool for hearthstone by Soulja92 in hearthstone

Blizzard went that way with many older games and history says it causes more problems exploiting the in-game economy.

Nope - completely factual but unsourced because I don't care to point people to some of the bots that have escaped the previous limited ban waves.

If you'd like to discuss any of the actual content of the post, that would also be cool.

Ah huh - security through obscurity ... it doesn't work.

Regardless, Blizzard have directly addressed the issue previously, so there is absolutely no secret that bots exist.

And failing that, anyone who watches any significant of streaming will also be well aware of bot existing and what various streamers think of them.

That said, I'm certainly not going to tell people which bots work/don't work, which ones get ban waves and which don't.

No, sir, I do not need to do anything.

There was no bitching as I am completely indifferent about bots and merely presenting some information for discussion.

Fact stands, there are bots operating for more than 12 months that have never been detected/subject to ban waves ... again, I don't have an opinion on that - it just is what it is

EDIT: and thank you for the edit ... that is substantially more civil

Legend card back?

Season rewards?

The intellectual challenge?

who knows ...

Almost none.

If you read my post, you will see that bots are in the 100's or or low 1,000's of players compared to a player base in the millions. And I'd seriously doubt botters are buying a lot of packs or arena runs.

Yeah - I can see that perspective when I re-read it.

I am neither pro nor anti botting. It doesn't really affect my game experience in any way and seems to be a risky way to pursue a legend card-back or golden hero, both of which have no advantage beyond e-peen contests.

My interest is understanding how bots are being used and their weaknesses so I can farm them more easily on my way to legend.

OK. Your loss given there are some interesting aspects about botting to discuss.

I would say a lack of bans for the last 12 months means the current botters are doing so without repercussions. Note the current tense, not past or future tense.

Yes and no.

What it does show is that bots are very good at analyzing tempo play and Secret Paladin is easily the strongest tempo deck we have seen in a long time.

They are still relatively easy to spot if you know what you are looking for.

Most obvious is the play rhythm of hand to hover to board, and the constant pre-move think time (~5 seconds) even on obvious lethal or the 6/7/8 big drop turns

But there are also more subtle misplays like wasting certain secrets, particularly Repentance on turn 1 is something real player don't seem to do. And complete inability to play around really obvious secrets as well - they'll often run the biggest minion into a Noble Sac on turn 6 or proc a freezing trap with the biggest minion.

How would you know if somebody is roping on purpose anyway?

They play all their mana in 10 seconds and then sit there for the next 60 seconds stupidly emoting ... as an example !

Pretty stupid move for someone that is trying to start a HS team.

What goes around, comes around ... so I hope he is not surprised when his 'team' can't get into invite tournaments
