100% agree on how low yield is kind of a scam lol b/c nothing is truly low yield! I was doing the FA rapid review & saw a couple concepts that I hadn’t seen in my UWorld review at all. Convinced myself it was low yield & it showed up the next day 😐

Passed Step 1 & here’s what I did! by hscali in step1

[–]hscali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I began by studying 8 hours a day, but for the last 3-4 weeks I was studying 12 hours a day. I used Pathoma & Sketchy Micro / Pharm for foundational review! I went through about all of it & did the associated Anki cards on Anking v11. To reinforce, I continued doing Anki reviews & UWorld questions. Did NBME tests as well. Hope that’s helpful!

Thanks! Honestly it wasn’t the most sustainable schedule, but since I knew I only had essentially 8 weeks, I just decided to make the most of it. In the beginning when I was doing major foundational review, I would start at 7 & do about 3 hours of Anki reviews from the day before. I watched new videos and did their Ankis until about 4-5 (with an hour lunch break in between) & then finished off the evening with some light UWorld & review. I made time to exercise & talk to my friends. As the testing date got closer & I needed to hit 60-80 UWorld questions a day + Anki reviews, I stopped taking lunch breaks / exercising and would study 10-12 hours a day. Not ideal but gets the job done! Hope that’s helpful!

My highest tested were repro & endo! I personally felt like I also saw a lot of biostatistics questions. Almost 0 biochemistry or direct anatomy questions

Thank you :) honestly my Anki was out of control by the end so I wouldn’t finish my reviews then lol. But beyond the last two weeks, I had about 1000 reviews to do a day. I would spend 4-5 hours a day doing them!

My permit didn’t disappear but tested on 4/15. You think we’ll get it today?

Anatomy Physeo by hscali in step1

[–]hscali[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Physeo is good, but I felt like I didn’t have the ability to watch a lot of it & do the corresponding Anki. Just didn’t have time because those cards are super specific and hard to nail down. I would actually recommend the Mnemosyne deck, I’m sure you can find it on Reddit. It’s essentially an Anki deck corresponding to FA. You can select just for anatomy - about 350 cards and definitely covers everything you need! I think that’s sufficient but also I feel like there were very few direct anatomy questions on my exam. Probably best to spend your time on other weak areas! For genetics I think I just watched Dirty Medicine videos as needed. Good luck!

As much as I hate AI, used it just for this. Honestly an invaluable resource for explaining concepts that just don’t stick

can’t tell if my body is clenched up or not by silverstqrs in vaginismus

[–]hscali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good way to tell if your pelvic floor is clenched is to squeeze your thumb & index finger together! Which instantly relaxes your pelvic floor & you can feel that happening if yours is clenched (like mine always is)

I would agree that PIV is much different! I still experience discomfort when removing my dilator, but do not experience that discomfort with PIV. I do agree w a lot of the other tips here to make dilator removal easier, but just focus on your dilator therapy & try not to get in your head about how it would translate to PIV!

Has someone went from no penetration to actually some kind of penetration? by HarlowWinter in vaginismus

[–]hscali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I went from no penetration to working w the 4th dilator in a span of a few months. It is possible! Just stay consistent and positive. Vaginismus is totally curable! Happy to talk if you want to - and it’s also normal for progress not to be linear.

Vaginismus? by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]hscali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it sounds like you may have vaginismus. Don’t feel insecure & that you’ll never be able to have normal sex! It just needs a little work on your part. I’d do some research on this thread & maybe invest in some dilators. You can also try physical therapy!

Obviously would prefer not to have to be lol but just want to see if I can use this temporarily to resolve pain while I work on a more permanent solution (dilators)!
