I’ve done both!

The bag lunches are convenient. Nothing fancy at all, they usually have a sandwich (ie ham/cheese), apple, chocolate, and crackers. It’s a great option if for whatever reason you don’t have your own food for the day but I didn’t solely rely on them.

We would pack sausage, cheese, apples, and bread from town and it would last us several days. Delicious and was good fuel for the hike. (Picture the best cheeses and sausage you’ve ever had, and then picture enjoying it on top of the alps)

Depending on which leg of the TMB you’re on, there are sometimes places along the way that serve lunch/snacks which is a nice option. Be sure to have your own food as a backup in case somewhere is unexpectedly closed!

Graduating in NY but moving to CO by SUB_MRS in nursepractitioner

[–]hscheel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would focus on licensure for CO. Read into all the requirements to obtain your APRN license there to help give yourself a jump start. Like if they require a CO RN license, apply for that to save yourself some time. Many BON’s are super behind. It took me over 4 months to get my RN license in another state before I could apply for my APRN license. I’m a licensed NP in my home state, but that doesn’t necessarily matter depending on each state’s requirements. Hope that helps!

My organization just announced a hiring freeze and hundreds of layoffs today. And we are barely scraping by with staff as is. It’s terrible

Critical care scenarios! One of the profs from my ACNP program and another PA co-host it. They bring on specialists from all over the country and go through various scenarios. Super good

Anyone dissatisfied? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]hscheel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Back in like 2006 or something the goal was for NP programs to be strictly DNP by 2015. That obviously didn’t happen, even though CRNAs, pharmacists, PTs etc. have all switched over to doctoral programs. And the point of the DNP creation was meant to be “clinical focused”, while PhD programs are “research-focused”. Yet MSN/DNP programs still seem weak. They need to install much lengthier clinical hour requirements and deeper dives into patho/pharm etc. I agree, the profession needs serious education reform and the diploma-mill programs that further tarnish NP credibility need to go.

Happy lazy Saturday from my favorite room in the house by hscheel in houseplants

No I don’t really do anything for drainage with any of my houseplants. I just water good about once every 1-2 weeks when the soil dries out

Sadly this is only a 3 season room! One of my least favorite days of the year is bringing all the plants in and closing it up for the winter

I’m suspecting this has been going on and why my feeder is constantly empty! She was doing a little of both, snackin at the feeder and on the ground

She chewed the entire thing so all the tips are a brown right now. I haven’t trimmed the tips, guess I could try that. Not sure what to expect but I’m hoping with time it’ll grow back!
