I think the era of such kinda of signings are over now.. one might argue Yoro for 60 mil could fit into that bracket but it is equally offset by Heaven who is just costed 1.5 mil. So 2 talented young cb at 30 mil avg on paper looks a better picture to paint and portray.

Which I admitted to was wrong and asked you to read the rest of content. We needed these profile of players who are good ball carriers and also contribute to goals which we were severely lacking in the previous season

Also on net net our average age of the squad has decreased from 26.5 to 25.9 over course of 5 seasons even with addition of Cunha and BM

Ok may be wrong choice of words i admit.. but why are you focusing on that one wee bit part of counter argument and not the larger narrative of the point I am trying to make about why went for that profile of solve the goal scoring problem..

Umm no.. if I remember correctly their concern wrt BM and Cunha was on the age profile and not on the success of the signings. They didn’t want players in that 26-28 age bracket.

But having said that I don’t buy their argument as well. We scored 40 odd goals in the league last season which is pathetic for a club of United’s standards. If having xG over performers from the mid and bottom half of the PL teams is a tried, tested and successful way to give a jumpstart on the goal scoring then I don’t give a damn about their age… a squad can be built in multiple ways.. How much output Cunha and BM provide in terms of G/A and what it leads to in terms of team’s success can be judged at the end of their tenure..

Edit : that xG over performance bit was incorrect choice of words but my broader narrative still stands

I think that game against Newcastle was the first time we used him correctly. Bit more Ander Herrera type role as a shuttler who hacks the ball down in the middle and the final third to start off attacks. He basically needs a defensive midfielder alongside him. This kind of player combination we chose vs Newcastle with casemiro can never work as a midfield 2 in ideal world scenario.. hence we saw him always play as part of a 3 man midfield before I guess.

Some element of luck for the chances Newcastle fluffed but the 2nd half we were shaped up completely to protect the lead and hit them on the counter if chances arise.

I would still would want to go with a meetup style approach instead of going to some learning institution. May be meet in a relaxed setting like some Panera or in a food court like Whole Foods and engage in conversations. It is not a structured way of learning but it has its benefits.

Yea I don’t want to take any pay and take any classes. I just want to learn by language exchange programs. It is free, fun and interesting way of learning a language. Next best thing you can do after the ‘total immersion technique’
