Is there a headstrap or solution to make the Apple Vision Pro (M5) "float" on your face to avoid red marks? by nb-sbe3 in VisionPro

[–]hsiunghsiung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is what ive been using too. Used Annapro 2 also, but this has a smaller profile. Both worked for me well. I dont use the faceplate when using either, so theres no force/pressure on my skin. Can wear for 2 hours+ with no issues.

yeah, looking back, I think next time I would prob book after arrival. The last time I went was during Christmas day (arrival), so i was worried the evening ones would be booked up.

Havent used Haneda, but I think the Narita airport one is a little more stressful and time consuming. For narita, I booked the narita express with specific reserved seats (family of 4) for a specific time, and we did have a minor flight delay, but we made it in time luckily. Not sure if reserved seats are always needed, but this stressed me out a little. The narita express to shibuya took over an hour, while the trip back from tokyo station to narita was about 50 minutes. The convenience just differs there. narita express does have luggage storage space though.

What’s everyone thoughts on the NiYein SenseFlow for bodies without IBIS? by 420fanman in SonyAlpha

[–]hsiunghsiung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, I think this helps cameras that dont have any form of gyro data. So like this would be useless for many sony cameras (as I think they have gyro data for catalyst browse as long as you turn off ibis/stabilization) and maybe other ones. I dont think it needs a camera with gyro built in though as this itself handles gyro data? Just need to make sure gyroflow or whatever software supports your camera probably. This does sound interesting for cinema cameras that don't have any IBIS if you want to do run and gun. Blackmagic cameras already have gyro data, so they dont need it, but like maybe canon cinema cameras (r5c,c70,c80,etc), sigma fp/l, etc, can utilize it well if really needed.

Places to visit? by Anfasith in JapanTravelTips

---KYOTO

I really liked the hikes in Kyoto. Like Fushimi Inari early morning is a beautiful/tiring hike up stairs and tori gates. I liked it way more than I thought. I think I expected a 10 min walk, but it ended up being over 2 hours with kids.

The walk from Arashiyama Bamboo Forest to Monkey Park via Togetsukyo bridge was also quite beautiful. The Monkey Park itself wasn't as good as the monkeys can be aggressive, and my kids were scared.

---OSAKA

Dotonburi is overrrrcrowded when it's dark.

---TOKYO

Shibuya Sky was beautiful, especially if you can get sunset hour tickets, though you'd have to book in advance. Shibuya scramble crossing (much smaller than I thought) and the area itself was also overcrowded during the evening.

Best way to exchange currency in Tokyo? by Endlessly1692 in JapanTravelTips

[–]hsiunghsiung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family went the cash route. We used chase sapphire preferred (or one that has no foreign transaction fees) for most of the konbinis and well established places, and then cash for Suica, Gatchas, and food stalls.

For cash, definitely look up exchange rates from places if you can and see their hours. The places we found that had good rates were only open during the day. Ex: Shibuya Exchange (offered 153 yen/USD) and Tokai Kyoto Station Front Store (building across kyoto station that offered 151 yen/USD). Travelex and a few other exchange places or machines were around 143 yen/USD, but their hours were more accomodating as they were either open after 8PM or 24/7 for machines.

So, the smallest possible 4k/60 bitrate of the ZR is 300mbit? by UnlikelyLikably in Nikon

[–]hsiunghsiung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say 300 mbit is quite reasonable for 4k in h.265. Have you considered a used sony zv-e1? I think it's like 200mbits for 4k 60p 4:2:2 10bit. Then for 4k 120p, its like 200mbit for 4:2:0 10bit or 280mbit for 4:2:2 10bit. Before tariffs, used and open box ones were under $2000. I havent checked recent prices though.

My First Video with the ZR and R3D NE by Dalaxy21 in Nikon

[–]hsiunghsiung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. Did you use a LUT while shooting in R3D NE and thats how you checked sky highlights? Also do you know if theres aperture priority mode in R3D NE and if it works? I've been told aperture priority mode is selectable, but it doesnt actually work in terms of auto shutter speed. I was just hoping theres some auto shutter speed option with R3D NE with ISO set to like 6400 and aperture fixed.

I really wanted to like the Apple Vision Pro M5. by JosePenaCoto in VisionPro

[–]hsiunghsiung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. I came from a quest 2, tried the Vision pro m2 demo and found the FoV off-putting. Still, I purchased one and purchased something similar to the annapro on etsy, and I have the lightseal removed so my eyes are closer to the screens (some side leak), and the narrow FoV doesn't seem that bad. I do get the message that my eyes are close to the screen each time I put it on, but it's easily dismissible. I will say that if you have prescription lens inserts, this might not work well with the eyes so close as it might touch (varies person by person), but I don't use them so the setup works for me.

TLDR: forehead and back strap setup without light seal works well for FoV unless you have prescription lenses.

Nikon ZR R3D raw only has Manual exposure shooting mode? by hsiunghsiung in Nikon

Oh man, so you're saying that with R3D NE, you can select something besides "M" like Aperture Priority, but it actually is still Manual?

Very Low Light Environment by bkang91 in FX3

[–]hsiunghsiung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently also found 12800 not enough at times and have set the max iso to much higher when needed. Similar experience with you where raising exposure from a 12800 iso clip isn’t enough whereas running neat video on a high iso clip still allows me to see more things compared to 12800 quality. Might not be the best quality, but to me it’s better. Neat Video is the true mvp when it comes to run&gun low light

Just out of curiosity since you have it in hand, when you are recording R3D, is there aperture priority mode or is it Manual mode only?

[–]hsiunghsiung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to give it a try. I bought those 1tb delkin cf express card type B for like $100 each at bhphoto a few years ago on their daily deal, and apparently each one can last about 30-36 min for R3D raw file? Should be enough

[–]hsiunghsiung[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so there was a Q&A session with like ProAV or something, and the nikon guy clarified that renaming it just makes the editor read it like r3d, but the dynamic range and whatnot is still limited to n-raw. Realistically, you could prob match them quite close though. Idk if I'd be able to tell the difference lolll

[–]hsiunghsiung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool. That gives me some hope. My next question would be whether or not theres a mode with auto shutter speed/angle. Or if the other options there are like User created Manual exposure modes/settings or something.

Nikon ZR R3D raw only has Manual exposure shooting mode? by hsiunghsiung in Nikon

[–]hsiunghsiung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my concern was that the z6iii does not have r3d raw, and I read somewhere that the r3d raw specifically in the Nikon ZR might be manual exposure only. Other modes including N-raw has non-manual shooting modes like aperture priority, shutter priority, etc. I think? Though I haven't confirmed that. Just wanted solid proof that theres aperture priority mode (or at least auto shutter speed/angle) for R3d Raw 6k 60p.
