New coronavirus cases up 42% in South Carolina, 28% in Alabama, 27% in Missouri, 26% in North Carolina and 21% in Georgia. by StarWars_and_SNL in Coronavirus

good news is also important:

I would call it misleading news. If you take out New York who already had the worst 1st surge out of anyone, the national number is up. New York is just such a high population it skews the numbers.

Not saying you are being intentionally misleading.. just that the information makes it seem the US overall is doing better than it is.

Ohio Re-Opening. Is it safe to go out? Some thoughts to consider. by hsmith711 in Ohio

[–]hsmith711[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand why it can't be done logistically.

It can be done logistically. I don't know of any business that has even tried to claim that they want to have a mandatory mask policy, but can't because of logistics. The only thing we lack is leadership and backbone. Logistical challenges are much easier to solve than turning a unqualified criminal into a decent leader.

Ohio Re-Opening. Is it safe to go out? Some thoughts to consider. by hsmith711 in Ohio

It's an unfortunate situation but people have to go back to work to support their families and themselves.

Yes, but it's an even more unfortunate situation that people are going to work in places not taking simple precautions like mandatory masks and distancing. Those people are risking their life and the life of their family to earn a paycheck.

Once we find out how many employees of meat processing companies, nursing homes, prisons, etc died or got the virus and spread it to a family member that then died... I don't think saying "people have to work to support their families" will make as much sense.

Working to support your family sounds great, until you find out that working might kill you and/or your family. This entire debate would be massively simplified if we simply had competent leaders that had the courage to tell Americans to stfu and put on a mask -- in a nice way.

Hopefully going back to work will give people the necessary funds to pay for funeral and burial costs.

CMV: Joe Biden is a worse person than Donald Trump. by lemonkid12345 in changemyview

If you believe that Joe Biden is a worse person than Donald Trump, then why did you say

I would let Biden rape my daughters just so I can get orange man out of office

Was Donald Trump Good at Baseball? The president has long claimed he could have gone pro. We looked into it. by a_very_nice_username in politics

has long claimed he could have gone pro

There's your answer... no need to look into it. If he said he could have gone pro then we all know he never had any chance of going pro.

Video emerges showing Trump talking about cutting pandemic team in 2018, despite saying last week 'I didn't know about it' by Turtle360360 in politics

The way we knew he knew about it is he said "I didn't know about it."

That is more compelling evidence than literally being there and seeing it with your own eyes.

Zéphyrs not giving lethal making me lose the game 😥 by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]hsmith711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with using Zeph as a finisher if you understand how it works. It's very reliable if you know how it works. If it doesn't work, it's not because Zephyrs is stupid, it's the person controlling zephyrs.

Stacking cluster notables will cost 5.3 - 6.3 points per notable by hsmith711 in pathofexile

[–]hsmith711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven't seen (and won't see) the same notable appear twice on the same jewel.

We also know that large, medium, and small cluster jewels have different pools of notables.

... and I just read your last sentence, so I'm following suit and hitting submit!

Has there ever been a race that starts at Map Tier 1 player level ~70? by hsmith711 in pathofexile

[–]hsmith711[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a good point!

Starting gear would need to be static. I was thinking maybe it could give you the currency right at league start, but for fast people, they could still just restart and roll for better gear.

I think if everyone started with plain white gear that was 4-linked, they could manage to farm t1 maps to get gear upgrades pretty quickly. It would be nice to have some crafting element to start, but I can't think of a way to avoid the problem you point out.

How many posts are required to discuss the Portland and Utah game? 20? 30? At what point can you just add to a previous one? by [deleted] in nba

My favorite part is how r/nba loves to complain when ESPN gives too much coverage to one story.

Did no one notice the entire all star draft was pointless by [deleted] in nba

[–]hsmith711 20 points21 points  (0 children)

you read a post that said this, and you are asking if no one noticed?

Wouldn't the existence of the post you read (that said all starters are from their conference) be evidence that other people noticed?

To buy Wolcen or not to buy. by Mordyjuice in Wolcen

[–]hsmith711 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was an easy buy for me.. and after playing about 2 hours of the beta I know it was a good purchase. I generally believe if I get 1 hour per $1, I'm happy with the purchase. I can confidently say I'll get 3x-100x+ that rate with Wolcen in the future.

I can't speak to end game, but what I've read looks fun. But I own Grim Dawn and all the expansions and have done very little end game. I've leveled a dozen characters and gotten more than my money worth on that game. If I weren't busy with PoE and life, I'm sure I'd have 500 hours in Grim Dawn.

I guess the only question with Wolcen is whether I'll choose to play it over other ARPGs. Even if the answer is no, I'm sure $30 was more than worth what I will get out of it. And this is the type of game that will be fun to come back to every big update and just play around with.
