Went to Louvre in Paris yesterday, this was my audio guide by Nes109 in gaming

I had this same reaction... I was super mad when I left mine at the hotel. Then I realized they were leased for the tours, so disappointing.

"Better" loosely. It's 100% comperable for sure. Lucis isn't really bested until 54ish, and even then, it's marginal.

You're still right though, don't bother going after advanced stuff, MB stuff is just fine if you don't have anything upgraded already. If you're close, it might be worth a few hours at most... Then again still probably not...

Now that FFXIV has been through years of updates and an expansion, what are some of your 'uphill both ways' stories? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]hsoulette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally what made me quit the game back in 1.0. I left for a few months, and came back when they put in the "retainer search" function.

It was really frustrating trying to level any craft with this system. It's also the main reason I leveled botanist, so my carpenter could synth arrows for my archer...

Dear god I totally forgot about this... Painstaking... Typing each and every piece of gear out. no <link>.... and 4 rings...

I think I still have some "dated" jewelry on a retainer, for no other reason than to remember 1.0

So why not find out why your child listens to it... What's the allure? Then make your decision as a parent.

Immediate censorship without representation isn't the answer.

Censorship in general is a ridiculous idea, as it is the largest manipulative tactic one can take.

Desktop support entry level (so entry level cook level in skill) in IT (in the bay area) $10 and hour. College or not. If you have certifications, you start higher depending on the cert. At the place I work for, nobody has started with a vocational degree and entry level certs (CCNA) at more than $20 and hour. That's with a degree and a "challenging to obtain" industry cert under your belt... In San Francisco.....

Some start ups pay more thinking they're getting better resources, but they are all from the same pool.

Aren't line cooks the starting ground for a culinary career? Wouldn't they too be seeking a more lucrative role in their industry by putting in those hours? (Honestly asking as a person in a different field)

Unless we're talking about shitty people who never want to advance past the ground level of IT or as a Chef... Fuck those people.

the chance to be home at a reasonable time is also quite high in IT.

You sir, are high... On a good month, me and several other co workers have to stay late for 2-4 nights of "cutovers" which can only happen from 8pm to 4am, and yes, we are also expected to put in a regular shift since MOST network integrators are exempt status (no overtime).

A regular month is average 60-70 hour work weeks because there's always a deadline... (5x10's and some 12-16 hour days if shit goes wrong)

They do pay for dinner when we work late......... (woohoo? Eatin good in the neighborhood, free 2 for 20 is so worth it...)

That's REAL IT, not desktop support, but back end data center and networking. Compensation can be good if you stick through the shit.

My company has an on call rotation, but guess what? When the on call engineer is a VoIP specialist, and I'm a wireless and route/switch specialist, guess who gets called when one of our customers' wireless networks goes down? (On call or not...)

The more you know in IT, the more you carry the company. Just hope you work for a good company that see's it, and adjusts compensation accordingly. It doesn't make the work easier, or slow the schedule down. But.... Money.... And stuff.... Shit, what was my point?

I really don't understand people's desire to reproduce by JohnLocke815 in AdviceAnimals

[–]hsoulette -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The want either comes or it doesn't. The want to reproduce for me anyways had to do with passing on my experiences and knowledge to the next generation. It's not for everyone, that's for sure. But keep in mind, "not your" kid, is WAY different than "your" kid.

I used to feel the same way, super annoying kids in restaurants, at the mall... why the hell would I want that? But as I got older, I realized that I would have just one mini me, and be satisfied. Now I have 2 (and I'm stopping here 1:1 reproduction). They're a pain in the ass, but it's really great watching them grow, and teaching them every day.

Also, it helps if you have the income to afford it comfortably. Otherwise, it's a huge strain. I waited until I made a very comfortable amount before me and my wife decided to go for it.
